OT Healthcare

Yes, that would be very easy, technically. And would cause every single 'freedumb' person's head to explode. The government is tracking my every move?

We aren't even allowed to track purchases of firearms due to freedumb, what do you think the odds of tracking every purchase of every item are?

Your proposal has zero chance of ever being implemented in this country.

Well according to OBs plan we would have to track and tax firearm sales too since guns are risky.

If you want to be taken seriously then you might not dismiss the evidence I've provided several times as inaccurate.

Get the counter evidence if you want to have that conversation. You've had several days to do so.

im sorry my expediency is not good enough for you. My weeknights are busy. I generally check out links on the weekend. Ill try to make more time to fit your needs. My apologies.

We do already tax cigarettes, alcohol, and soda

Why was a health care debate taken out of the covid thread? Covid conversations should be able to branch out into health insurance topics shouldn't it? I don't get it? It's in context even if it generated a long back and forth between a couple of posters...half the posts in the coronavirus thread could be shopped off to political threads as well....what was the point in this shift?

why do you bother?

eek. Gads all we need is a universal healthcare system!
I cant believe no one has ever thought of that before the last few years….!!! Everyone before is just an idiot!!

gimme a break…

This is a real discussion. Please dont quote me if your not gonna be real about it.

some people here may genuinely enjoy discussing the details with others whether we agree or not.

Or are you just one of the many peanut gallery folk who only chime in when you think you “got one over on the other poster?”

If your not gonna engage seriously then please dont quote me.

I apologize for not posting the way you want me to post.

The happiest and healthiest countries are generally low population and non-diverse (mostly whites or asians usually).

Generally agree. Universal Healthcare would be good. Less processed foods would be good.
Any evidence of more diverse countries with similar policies which are miserable?

I don't mind you not finding evidence to counter mine.

But if you haven't found something to counter the source I've provided don't you think it's out of line to dismiss it as wrong?

Reality is, you're not going to find reliable evidence to back up your position on this anyway (that Canada has more public spending per capita on healthcare than the US taxpayers).

It's an uncomfortable conversation so we're being censored.

Because most of the healthcare debate wasn't talking about covid and healthcare will continue to be a problem & discussion long after covid.

You mean cancelled. This is cancel culture run amok. It's time for violence. Get your guns and ammo - well, forget that, the government tracks those purchases. You'll have to go out in the woods, get a broken branch to use as a club, and walk to DC - can't drive or fly because the government would know. Eat berries and grubs along the way, because if you buy food, the government will know.

Because I asked him to.

My post was not about universal healthcare

WTF SLY WHY DO YOU ALWAYS MOVE MY POSTS AND NOT THE “OTHER” GUYS POSTS

may I speak with the manager?

Apologies

When so many posts are moved sometimes stray posts can be added in.

Your post was about health

It was moved back to its original thread

your opinion.

people who take partial data and use it as a foundation to say it 100% works and anyoen ooposed is wrong… is wrong on every level

See how this works? We've been through this. Your numbers don’t include tangibles that WILL happen.
Just agree to disagree instead of trying to tell me im wrong based on incomplete data.
Great, but could you please explain?

This is what I'm looking for. Not vague suggestions of scary things which might happen. Actual evidence of direct results from supplying healthcare to the whole country.

But nobody who is opposed to Universal Healthcare can provide any. At least, nobody I've been able to find.

And universal healthcare can obviously be done at the same or lower cost as our current healthcare system, because every western country who has universal healthcare gets similar health outcomes as the US at a far lower cost (even the countries with higher cost of living and higher wages than the US).

No, other countries do this very well. That's what I've been saying.

Get Universal Healthcare. Stop subsidizing corn syrup. Improve access to education. Make our communities more walkable.

This is what the happiest and healthiest countries in the world do, and you don't like that. Instead you want to punish people who don't do things you don't like.

In fact, arguing for taxes that evidence shows we don't even need, and in fact don't work.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/opin...05cf44-fa5f-11e9-ac8c-8eced29ca6ef_story.html

Direct from this flawed article.

"Unfortunately, whenever this theory has collided with reality, it’s not been a happy story. It’s hard to overstate the abject failure of soda taxes to deliver on their promised benefits. Nowhere in the world, let alone the United States, have soda taxes reduced obesity."

Who said a tax on soda alone is going to reduce obesity? If that was the goal, well no shit it didn't work.

If someone eats shitty food all day, switching from soda to water isn't going to do much when the food they consume is all fast food, deep fried shit food.

It has to be a concerted effort on all foods and beverages that are not healthy for us.

This is such a flawed article its hilarious.

First. If people are paying the tax still, then raise it higher!

Second, like I said, if someone eats like shit all day every day, making one out of 10 changes needed, isn't going to show much in results.

This evidence provided has major flaws.

This is almost like working out your legs and expecting changes to your arms.

oookay....

That is exactly what cutting the processed food subsidies would do. And far simpler than any complex tax strategy.

If you have evidence of some nutritional tax working please share it.
