I was hoping Kreider would finish his career out in NY but that rarely happens anymore. Sad, as he was the last link to those '12-16 teams, but he was a terrific Ranger. I think he's still got 2-3 good years left if he gets healthy.

Hearing Carey Terrance. Not feeling that, but we’ll see. I never watched him play. Scouting reports are on him are 50-50. I like the guy I suggested better. If that’s all we’re getting we better get a 2026 first round draft pick. or a 2027 first round draft pick.

There is a part of me that has tremendous love for Kreider, especially with his performances against the Canes in the playoffs. However, it is unfortunate that that gutless, lazy, piece of dog shit, Zibanedouche corrupted his mind.

Kreider might not have given it to your team for all four rounds, but he would carry you in the playoffs at times. Sadly, Mika started teaching him that you don’t have to give a shit.

As for the return, I see it very differently from you guys, I don't care if they get a bag of pucks for Kreider as long as they clear the full $6.5M off the books for the next two seasons. If they get a decent prospect, that's a nice bonus, but certainly not what I'm concerned about.

The move to Anaheim is now entirely up to Chris Kreider after the Rangers have struck a preliminary agreement with the Ducks to trade their senior player.

We’re told by an informed source that while Anaheim was on his 15-team no-trade list that was submitted last July 1, Chris Drury was told by the winger’s party that he would be amenable to going to the Ducks before the GM entered talks with GM counterpart Pat Verbeek.

As of mid-afternoon Wednesday, Kreider — who learned of this development late Tuesday night — was conducting his due diligence before signing off on the move.

If he does, the divorce after 13 years that has seemed inevitable for months will be done. The Core will be no more.

On the one hand I think it would be pretty f'd up of Kreider to block the trade when the Rangers clearly want to move him, the Rangers have done a lot for him through the years, and he'd be going to a team with Trouba, Vatrano, and Strome, and a new coach who has won Cups. On the other hand, he negotiated the right to have a limited NTC, so it's certainly his right to use it as he sees fit. I'm sure we'll know by tomorrow.

Brooks reported on Wednesday that Rangers general manager Chris Drury had been informed Kreider would be "amenable to going to Anaheim" prior to any negotiations taking place.

"After being informed last night of the prospective deal, Kreider is now processing it all and going through his due diligence before he signs off on it," Brooks wrote, adding that there is "no separation" between Kreider and the Rangers.

According to Seravalli, the most recent trade talks involved the Ducks sending over 2023 second-round pick Carey Terrance and taking on the entirety of Kreider's remaining contract.

The Rangers would also be set to receive a draft pick in a recent proposal, according to ESPN's Emily Kaplan.

Chris Kreider's 13-year career with the New York Rangers is on the verge of ending.

Larry Brooks of the New York Post reported Thursday that the 34-year-old veteran agreed to waive his no-trade clause as part of a trade to the Anaheim Ducks.

According to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, the Rangers will send Kreider and a mid-round pick to the Ducks for center Carey Terrance and a mid-round pick.


Great start by Drury clearing all of Kreider's $6.5M cap hit the next two seasons. I think this gives Drury the flexibility to make some big moves over the next 3 weeks. I am almost expecting Miller to be gone for sure as well. It's all the right approach as this core had to be broken up, well worth the risk IMO. If Drury is smart the Rangers can be back near the top in the mix for a Cup next season.

Chris Kreider is set to join the Anaheim Ducks after the winger waived his no-trade clause and is allowing the NYR to deal him away, sources confirmed to ESPN on Thursday.

The Rangers will receive prospect Carey Terrance in return with the teams also swapping draft picks, sources said. The deal is pending a trade call.

To make the deal happen, Kreider had to waive his 15-team no-trade list, which he had recently added Anaheim to. The New York Post first reported that Kreider was waiving his no-trade clause.

Sources said the Ducks will take on the final two years of Kreider's contract, which pays him $6.5 million annually. That creates cap flexibility for the Rangers heading into free agency on July 1.

I see the abandoning thing very differently, the Rangers main core has been together for a long time, it wasn't until in season they really started to break it up. The stability here was high IMO.

Thanks to Kreider without a doubt. He was hear during the good times and bad times. They won a lot of regular season and playoff games with him. 5 conference finals and a SCF. With that said he has played less of a physical game over the last few years and he only scores in front of the net. Getting into the mid-30s those will injuries will last longer. All that aside good luck to him and thanks for all the years of good hockey

The Rangers also got a 3rd round pick in the deal, while giving the Ducks back a 4th rounder. Nothing crazy, but a little better pick is nice:

There was a time I loved Kreider's game. As frustrating as it was because there was more there. However, he and Zibanejad started to poison the team every second year with the coach they had. He had to go. He sure as hell isn't the last one.

On Carey Terrance. Was the captain of his team and played on two WJC teams. That is a pretty good sign. Makes me feel better about him. Not projected to be a top 2 center guy but this team sure as hell lacks leadership.

Seems to me this is an absolute slam dunk trade to start what will hopefully be an active summer for the Rangers. The fact they got a former 2nd round pick AND moved up about 15 spots in the draft are the cherries on top of shedding Kreider's full $6.5M the next two seasons.

The keys will be what does Drury do with that extra cap space, and what other moves to break up the core are forthcoming. That will define whether or not the summer was a success, but this is a great start.

Boyle hinted on the Rangers podcast that Fox doesn't workout nearly enough in the gym and needs to get his head out of his ass and starting getting stronger.

Kreider was a must-go. There was just no use for him here any further. Too soft and expensive for the bottom 2 lines and not good enough to play on the top 2 lines. Great in the PK, but that was it.

Dominoes need to continue rolling, though. We need to do more moves from here.

Rangers fans have always been complete candy asses when it comes to letting fan favorites go when they’re older. Drury wants to make several moves from all reports. I doubt Bennett will come here, he’ll probably re-sign in Florida. Marner might be a fit here if Drury can dump enough salary. I’d rather have Bennett, but doesn’t look like that will happen.

Every team can use a guy like Sam Bennett. I am hopeful Cuylle continues on his trajectory, he could definitely be a Bennett-type.
