Event Heat wave city, babies!

100 yesterday and 103 today on my back deck..brutal heat wave but should get some relief in a couple of days....garden has loved this heat so far..me, not so much.

Just looked at the long range forecast. At our high elevation, the next 10 days will be in the 90s, several days at 100+.

Which means lower elevation flatlanders are going to bake.

No end to this heatwave in sight.

The only advantage we have, the nights still get down to 40 or so. It gives us a chance to cool off the house, which can last most of the day.

Downside of my house, not insulated so doesn't cool down at night even with all windows open. Early morning is cool even during heat wave. I open every door before dawn to try to cool off.

Lots of ways to deal with heat during the day. But. Trying to sleep at night in heat is agony.

The bedrooms in my cabin are upstairs in the loft with low ceilings...A frame walls....brutally hot these days so I blocked off the stairwell and put an intake and outtake fan in two windows during the day and sleot downstairs on the hardwood floor of the living room on a futon which has given me a sore back but is the coolest place to sleep and airconditioned if needed...I just have a window air conditioner that doesn't cool the loft so...downstairs is fine as long as there's power....take a lot of cool showers as well to keep fresh. Half of my deck is covered and I have lots of shade trees so I've been spending evenings outside to get a break from the cabin....people have it much worse...I can't imagine being homeless sleeping in a tent on concrete in this shit

No real good way to fall asleep on hot nights but best I found, wash my hair just before bedtime. Go to bed with hair damp and ceiling fan on.

Oregon breaks more records on last triple-digit day of July heat wave

Heating up next week but not as much as couple of weeks ago. We have a pool here. Finally got bathing suit. I can't swim. But can get in water on hot day.
Decided on plain bathing suit instead of cleavage baring one. I mean, I know they say if you've got 'em show 'em but not at my age.
