Rick, when did Bird tear his labrum??? This is the first I heard about it. Shit fire, its gonna' be a long year without Bird, a highlight of the year he'd of been, IMO.....
and just say no to Swisher.....his numbers have been shit....

I know you know how effing painful a torn labrum is, I for one can say that's one long term painful problem, never good........shit, shit, shit....!

It happens a few weeks ago Rob, he'll be out the entire season.

...Matts, unless I'm mistaken, the initial injury actually occurred last year, but went undiagnosed.

Damned, damn it, damn it, damn it.....

I was soooo looking forward to seeing how Bird would do this year, a highlight of the Season perhaps........

:dammit:

No thank you, let Swisher and his Val Girl Vocab go anywhere but the Yankees. The man talked all that "Brohio" Crap and pretty much flubbed the Dub.

He must of used my Doc initially, who can't diagnose a hang nail, ... or won't...

I'm kind of puzzled. Did Bird complain, and the Doc didn't diagnose, or did Bird keep silent, hoping the pain would go away, hoping it was something simpler than it is. Young guns get like that, and often have enough motivation, to play with a broken leg....?

Much like Tanaka they (team doctors) thought rest would do the trick.

...Matts, "undiagnosed" was probably the wrong term...he first felt pain last May and went on the DL for a month of rest...he disclosed to his agent and the Yanx after the season that he still felt pain...the Yanx have in the past failed to do their "due diligence" in following up on injuries and catching problems during physicals.
...but Cashman, blamed Bird because he claimed that Bird “wasn’t really honest with us; it was kind of bothering him the whole time.”

Thank You 59, I appreciate your help and info, on this matter, I was totally unaware, and the post caught me off guard....!:tiphat:

...really a tough break for the kid...I was really looking forward to watching him play this year.

Hey Ron I just got a call from my friend Kristin she told me she is moving to Stone Mountain, Georgia. Is that close to you???

...Nah, Stone Mountain is a little north of Atlanta I believe...I'm a little south of Macon.

...one of my fav bands is from Stone Mountain. (Mother's Finest)...possibly the best live band I ever saw...ass kickin' music. Funk Rock if you will...They were unjustly labeled as "too black for white radio and too white for black radio".

...and a great slow dance (belly rubbin' music) I used to play as a DJ back in the day...the girl can wail...think she gets off at the 4:00 mark'

It may be your mother's finest band but I've never heard of them.

Good one Rick lol I never heard of them either but I will watch the videos later. You know I'm a fan of all kinds of music.

...well, I'm sure a lot of people have never heard of them even though they're still rockin'...that's the reason why I told a little about them and why I posted the videos. Obviously they enjoyed most of their success in the South in the mid 70's but like I said, they were unfairly labeled as "too black for white radio and too white for black radio" and thusly they had a hard time getting radio stations to play their music...but it shouldn't diminish the fact that they were a very good band...the music business is very fickle.

Mid 70s, that explains it, I was MUCH to young.

...awww c'mon Rick...I'll bet you were the King of Disco...hell, I'll bet you still got your stacked heels in the closet waiting for them to come back in style.

LOL Actually Ron, I was pretty popular on the disco floor. A lot of good memories.

...lol...can't believe the clothes we wore back then....shirts unbuttoned halfway down to show of our chest and gaudy necklace.

...Yeah Baby !!!

Can't forget the bell bottom pants & nay-roo (forgive the spelling) jackets. The days of Brillcream, Vitalas & Aqua velva or your dads Old spice.

Wow, what a deep old Flashback...(someone call a doctor please)... From Stone Mt., Hotlanta, Athens, Macon, and every where in b/t...

NTM- Woodstock II, held at Bryan, GA. Just a jaunt away from ye' - 59, ...
(I damn near bought a house in Bryan)...

Those early to latter 70s, Bands from Joe-Jah, were a great, fine ballast to music of that time, then and still now...a Hot Spot for Dixie blends of Music, ..
From Mothers Finest, to:- B52s, REM, The Allman Bros., Ray Charles-(prior)...and/or a ton of other Party House Bands back then til present day...

From= Nehru or turtlenecks, to those over-sized collars, hanging over the wide lapel sport coats.....platforms,
I never got into those white shoes, white belt, tho', and had 2 left feet under the 'mirror balls'.....

I haven't heard anyone mention 'Mothers Finest', since 96, and originally thru the 73-76, when I spent 2 months of Summer, hitting up nightclubs, in Hotlanta, to Macon, to Athens, and Stone Mt, thru Marietta, and around again... or down to F-L-A, where KC and the Sunshine Band were the closer highlight band, for Disney World's Opening Day/Week-Grand Festival

Mothers Finest often brings back to mind, a similar band in some ways; ie, Little Feat.... The first time I ever heard Lowell George's band, I was told: "You'll love 'em Rob; they play a cowboy boogie soul funk bluesy R&B, with a helluva great slide riff", ....

...Lowell George (RIP) and Little Feat...Nicolette Larson sang with them a bit...and the "Woodstock II" in Byron....I was there, Matts.

Wow, its called strategy asshole. Like I've said Ron some people should never be allowed to use a microphone.

incredible Ron....why I twisted Byron into Bryan, shit old timers disease (again).....shit, I've been hanging around Rick too long.....

Yeppers, I loved Nicolette as much as Russ Kunkel, (old Jackson Browne band drummer, as you already know)....Loved Nicolette's work with on Neil Young's Classics: American Stars and Bars, (with Rondstadt & Larson ie "the bullets"); then Nicolette on "4 Strong Winds" and "Lotta Love", tho' Nicolette's "lotta' love" version was much better. Larson's vocals soared like no other woman I've heard since, every bit as much as Linda Rondstadt IMO, her "In the Nick of Time" was EPIC...!!! ........and her LP was a smashing success, but ya' already knew this, sorry to reiterate.....~~!

I heard Nicolette, with Hoyt Axton, (the Banana Band) open for Joan Baez in 75, then- making big waves as a vocalist in LA; soon too follow up with Neil, have her bigger hit of His tune, and went on to some great work with Emmylous Harris-"Hello Stranger", and one of my many other favorites-Rodney Crowell (Cro-well)....and of course a ton of others, Michael McDonald 'Let Me Go, Love' et al...

2 trivias:

  • Nicolette was the Maid of Honor at Eddie Van Halen's marriage to Valerie Bertinelli...'
  • many forget Nicolette's version of: "I'd Die For this Dance" with Jeff- (fkng incredible) -Beck...

59- I bet you have this bookmarked, man this woman's long gorgeous hair and sweetheart vocals were the bomb....at the time of her 1st big single 'lotta love', I was dating this chick, who had hair very similar to Nicolette's and, ....... whoops, we won't go there, (but boyo was it fkng good no it was GREAT), even tho' the chick became a head case, not Nicolette, my goyl friend then......and I couldn't get enough of either......

...lol...can't believe the clothes we wore back then....shirts unbuttoned halfway down to show of our chest and gaudy necklace.

Damn you guys are old I grew up in the 80's & 90's. That shit is too funny.
