The world is filled with people who have sex and have kids because they are irresponsable or want to have a child for the wrong reason, which is a huge problem. If your not ready to be a father then don't. Get an abortion. Don't listen to religious fanatics or people who are on a moral high horse, they usually have little or no experience in any matters that have to do with the problem. Also, if she is having second thoughts, you need to be honest with her and tell her that you don't want her to be the mother of your child. It was a freak accident that she got pregnant, and like you said, its %50 for each of you, so you should have just as much say as she does.

Regardless of what "should be," she has 100% of the legal rights, which is all that matters. And even in the abstract, I don't think it should be 50-50, since it involves her body so the responsibility is not shared 50-50.

I think he should be honest about how he feels and honest about how involved he'll be if she has the baby. After that, he should leave it to her, since it's her decision.

Do you live in Oregon? I ask because you mention ultrasound. It is actually hazardous for a woman to have an ultrasound in early pregnancy, but in some states opponents of legal abortion have made ultrasound a requirement, despite risk to woman and fetus, as a way of making abortion more difficult, expensive, and emotional. But I don't think Oregon is one of those states.

I called planned parenthood, checked their website for all the different options. I didnt even know you could have an abortion by pill now. I thought there was just the morning after pill. It costs a little more than the surgical procedure but I think it would be way less traumatic and very much worth the extra $75. They told me it would cost between 450-575 based on income. She makes good money so I assume the higher. Thank you crandc for the advice. Im glad you saw this thread...now I just need to convince her to do it because its the right thing for both of us.

A pill and the problem is gone....please dear god say yes...go get pregnant by somebody else. leave me out! :sigh:

Actually, same sex couples have battles over whether or not to have children, the big difference is that it does not happen by accident. Our kids are always planned.

btw crandac, the planned parenthood where I live is sort of in a lame, low income part of town. IMO that would just add to the emotional trauma of thinking this is a "ghetto" thing to do or something along those lines. I found another place within a 1/2 mile of her place that offers the abortion pill. Unless you think of a reason not to if this were to happen Im leaning towards taking her there.

Hallelujah! Im not going to be a dad!!!!!!!! Holy crap...I can breath again...

She went to the obgyn like I said for an ultrasound. The doctor came in after reviewing the results and asked her if she was planning on keeping it. She asked why and the dr said that due to her taking two types of antibiotics (she has had horrible migraines recently)the past few weeks that the lining required to have a health pregnancy was not fully formed. So in other words, she can have kids, just not right now because it started bad because of the antibiotics. The dr informed he she could either see how it goes which I guess is very doubtful or terminate it. She chose to terminate and they did the procedure right then and there. I had no idea this had even a chance of happening today or I would have been there without question.

In one sense Im glad about the reason why she went thru with it. I think it makes it slightly less stressful for her knowing that even if she wanted the pregnancy it wouldnt have worked out...at least this time.

I was just at her place when she got back. Obviously she is feeling down and understandably started sobbing at one point. She said "sorry" to which I replied she had no reason to be. Im just as responsible for this mess.

Thank you for everyone that came with heartfelt honest advice in this thread, especially crandc and Trip Tango who sent me a very good PM.

We have had this conversation before about what we would do if this ever happened. Obviously we took the precautions to not go down this path but nature beat us. She said she would have an abortion if this ever happened. She has also said multiple times after hanging out with her friends that have kids that she could never have one....she doesnt want to have kids, she is just confused and emotional.

I got a girl pregnant and found out 1 hour ago. Fuck... She was on the pill but recently took antibiotics which screwed up her birth control and presto, pregnant :sigh:

Ive known her for several years. Its an on again off again "friends with benefits" thing. Ya, I know, weird relationship but thats how it is.

So to make a long story short, she was all pissed off, partly at me for not hanging with her this weekend, and partly for something else. She wouldnt tell me so I drove over there and found this out....oh boy oh boy.

She was all emotional and I tried to calm her down the best I could. I did. We talked. I asked her what her opinion on what to do about this is. She says she isnt having a kid, which I wont lie, was music to my ears. She has said before when her friends with kids visit about how much she wouldnt want a kid...so I believe her...should I?

Anybody here deal with this before? I asked her if she was being honest in her opinion of not having the kid and she said yes. Is there a good chance she could get emotional and change her mind? I cant be a dad right now...I really cant. I also dont want her in the near future say "Fuck off, I dont need your help raising the kid." because Im not a total asshole. If there is a kid in the world because of me then its 50% my responsibility period. I cant ignore that. I told her Im very willing to pay and go to any of the things necessary for an abortion (that word never sounded so ugly)

So anyone have an experience like this? Any tidbits of info would be appreciated especially similar past experiences.

Bottomline is that it's completely up to her to decide. You sound like a decent guy who might end up with a child before he's ready but from the tone of your message I think you'll be fine. Good luck.
