At the start of last season. I'm meeting with the Blazers tomorrow to get swag for this season.

Why not tag @Denny Crane and ask him about the contract.

Pre-Sponsorship: We could have titles like "Harrison Fucking Barnes" and a thread like the one about the Blazers standing for the national anthem would never have been moved to the OT section.

Post-Sponsorship: I see Sly editing or moving anything that might be construed as sensitive or offensive to the OT section, regardless of whether it's related to the team.

We have had to change some core values on this forum to accommodate the team. Censorship being the main one. I just remember a lot of promises being thrown around at the start. Giving posters credentials. Having some of our guys write articles that would appear on the team website. Contests. Swag. Essentially much more access to the team.

Very little of that has actually happened. We get Meet and Greets that we've always had. We've had some swag, but I wouldn't say it's a significant amount. I haven't seen many, if any, ticket giveaways in this forum. So if we're going to change the way this forum operates, shouldn't there be more of a payoff? We haven't even really seen a huge influx of new posters since taking on that mantle.

I moved to Portland shortly after Paul Allen bought the Blazers. I've been right there with him every step of the way, through all the ups and downs, the good times and the heartbreaks. This team has profoundly impacted my life. I can only imagine how he feels when the team succeeds and the let down when they don't. I love the fact that our owner is a fellow fan and not just part of some investment group. I will never take that for granted.

Thank you Mr. Allen. Long live Paul!!!!

Just to expound a little...

I like our current front office and our roster - a LOT. I'm an Olshey fan and think Terry Stotts is one of the best coaches in the league. The entire roster is made up of guys who work hard, want to be here and are easy to cheer for. I would welcome a chance to meet any of them, but to me, Paul Allen is the Portland Trail Blazers. He's been here longer than any of them, and will hopefully be here after they all retire. He is, in my opinion, the best owner in all of sports. We're lucky to have him as the owner of our little, small market team.

Winning a championship back in the 70s was pretty sweet, I bet.

I personally really enjoyed the teams in the late 90s. Watching Brian Grant go head to head with Malone was awesome. It sucks that we lost to the Lakers, but that was a truly fun team to watch.

I agree! I can drink Coors all night and barely get drunk! Plus I get to stay hydrated in the process! It's not quite as watered down as PBR, but it's damn close :grin:

I'm sorry that you're upset that you can't swear in thread titles. That's because the Blazers were posting some of the discussions on their website.

How about a Blazer forum pumpkin carving contest? Nate will organize it, pick the winners, I'll give him some swag to give to the winners, he can mail it to them, and I'll see if the Blazers will tweet the pictures of the winning pumpkins.

That would be something we've never done before.

Nate will feel important again, like he did back when he was staff.

You guys will win swag.

I have never tried to get free stuff. I'm not interested in it. You have asked if I wanted to go to games and for the most part, nope, I don't want it. I want the people on this forum to get free stuff. I want the people on this forum to get credentials. I don't want any of it for myself.

Your idea broseph. We can have people vote on their favorite pumpkin. Why can't the team mail shit out? Why is that on you?

I just want to see the Blazers start living up to their end of the bargain. More swag. More engagement.
 
I agree that not much has changed by being officially associated with the team. But, I don't have many complaints about it either.

Would love to see:

Meet & Greet with Olshey
Meet & Greet with Stotts
Meet & Greet with former visiting greats Drexler, Porter, Williams, Walton, Petrie, Roy
More swag (Jerseys, pennants, signed ball, warmups, shirts and bobbles)
Private time with Mrs HCP
