Hickson should be a hot commodity

Also ran again? They made the NBA Finals last season. There are 28 other teams out there that would love to be that kind of also ran.

Yeah, but their expectations are Championship. They'll have a good run, but they'll pull up short - my opinion.

That was my point - Hickson would have improved their title chances. So, I'm glad we didn't give him to them.

It would have certainly improved them - we agree there. But I still would have aided in their title hopes if we were getting Lamb in return. We're at least a few years out from even thinking about Championships - so aiding OKC in the short-term isn't really hurting us any.

For me, it's a matter of principal. I hate the way Clay Bennett and Aubrey MccLendon lied and stole the Sonics from Seattle. So, I don't want to see them rewarded by winning a title - and I certainly don't want my Blazers to do anything to help them.

Oh just admit it; you still deep down want Kevin Pritchard to be right...

I'm a bit surprised by the (apparent) lack of interest in Hickson. The guy is a beast on the boards, has a nice scoring touch from outside and inside, and is a regular double-double guy. Who wouldn't want that? And who wouldn't want that especially now, with the playoffs approaching??

Some critics apparently feel that he's only playing well because Portland's roster is thin and he's getting lots of minutes, but so what? When he gets the minutes he contributes in a big way, which you can't say about every player.

I think Hickson is great, and I hope we keep him, but I'm still surprised that more teams aren't banging down Olshey's door to get him.

I'll tell you people who wouldn't want this beast on the boards, has a nice scoring touch from outside and inside, and is a regular double-double guy. It's teams that can see right though it that's who. I'm still not sold of JJ.

Hickson had pretty much made it known he would veto most trades. That made it almost impossible to work in good faith on a deal with a team that he wouldn't go to, anyhow.

See I disagree personally. I think Hickson would be the perfect player to use in a lop-sided trade.
I guess that's kind of what I meant, if we thought there was a high probability of such a trade (wink, wink). At the same time, if there is a low probability of upgrading from Hickson in free agency, then I guess we keep him for another season until a nice deal comes along. Olshey gets paid to know these things. He seems to be pretty well connected in the league.

Damn right I do too! I pray Durant doesn't win a title any time soon. Selfish of me, I know.

You're not alone! I feel the same selfish way. Then I hope Durant gets fed up and leaves as an unrestricted! :)

Are you sure about that? I saw Hickson being interviewed just last night, and he said he was letting his agent handle all the trade scenarios. Sounded like he was totally prepared for the possibility of being traded.

There were reports out today that Hickson would only waive his no-trade clause to go to the Nets.

Ooh, that would be so awesome. That dickish douche Clay Bennett doesn't deserve any success.

But I don't think he will. As well as being a great player, a dedicated baller, an apparently good teammate, something tells me he's pretty loyal and not drawn to the big city lights. Dammit.

I'm with ya! And I actually wouldn't be surprised in he doesn't win a title. I think he'll need A LOT more help to win one. But I guess he's probably got another 10 years as a leader and a lot of roster changes can happen in 10 years.
