Do you go?

My 10 year is coming up this weekend and all the nerdy ASB types are promoting it on FB. Oh joy.

Blah.

First of all not much has changed in 10 years. Secondly, for those that have I don't care to hear stories about their kids and wives and all that. Thirdly, most the class I graduated with was lame except for a small group of people.

I dunno. I can see a 20 year reunion. A 10 year reunion just seems so lame and forced.
 
The only plus I can see is that "I had a big crush on you" means "I'd fuck you right now".
 
It's like when you run into that person at the bar and that you kind of knew a little bit and they act like they are your best friend.

I'm assuming my 10th has either happened or coming up this summer and I could really care less. Maybe if I was single i'd go but i'm not so I don't care.
 
Just go because you never know what could happen. Try to get a girl to go back to the Hampton with you.
 
I think i have like 4 years for mine, but all of the girls i wanted to fuck have kids and look kind of droopy, meh.

Not that i look amazing either these days, lol.

Just had my come up last week.

I went back and forth on whether to go. Truth is, my best friends are from high school and I see the people I went to high school with that I want to.

10 year is just going to be a dick comparing contest, and even though I'm prob in the 90% of where people are at in life from my class, I don't care to talk about it. 20 year hopefully those people grow up enough not to care.

One of my buddies went for like 30 minutes, said it was really lame. He is single and is highly successful, couldn't get any attention.

I'm married now and don't want to go with my wife. Would feel awkward standing next to a girl I banged back in the day with her.

My graduating class was almost 500.

Its nuts to think of that many people in one class. I went to Franklin and my sophomore year we had a little over 300 students in my class and I felt that the school was crowded then but by my graduation it had ballooned to just under 500 and weren't even the biggest class there.

I guess it depends on your HS experience. I have nothing but great memories, so I was really looking forward to mine. The first night was a casual get together at a sports bar in the Pearl and had a blast. It carried over to a dive bar back in our neighborhood. It was awesome to see so many old friends. The next night it was a fancy dinner with husbands and wives and it was lame as shit. I think you should go. Catching up with a couple of really cool people from back in the day will far out weigh running into a few dorks you didn't like.

Problem is half my home boys I grew up with live out of state, a few I that I have talked to aren't going, a couple are going and the rest are spun out on drugs/booze and in and out of jail and I haven't talked to them in a few years.

My high school experience was normal. Hung out with the "in-crowd". Talking to other people though, it sounds like I'm not the only one who thinks the 10 year is insignificant.

The fancy dinner with husbands and wives, was that 10 or 20 year reunion?

With facebooks, you can see how people are. I keep in "contact" with peeps I haven't seen from HS there still. Not really that interested in hitting the reunions up. I meet up some of my HS friends whenever I'm in their city, but that's about it.
 
I'm afraid to go because the hard guys will beat me up.

The Soshes and Nerds outnumbered the Hard Guys, but that made no difference.

I drove by 25 years ago and they had made it a prison. Tall fence around the whole dark campus. We used to have open lunch, but now they can't leave for lunch. Too many lunchtime murders at Denny's, I guess.

Yes, I graduated early and split for Berkeley but my parents continued living in the same house for years, they could have sent an invitation there and it would have been forwarded to me.
Seems the people with whom I went to high school had the same opinion of my that I had of them.
The boy I've talked about that I was close to actually went to a different school. There was one girl who was (I thought) a good friend, until I came out and she dumped me, we were actually both in college by then.

I have no reason to want to see any of them. There is a reason I don't use my full name on facebook. I don't want to be found.

I skipped my 10th, and completely agree with everything you said above.

Couldn't have cared one way or another.... Most of my buds are out of state. Maybe 6 people I'd have cared to see, and 4 of those I see regularly anyway.

Lol nah, i didn't go. Most of my friends are pre-highschool that i still have to this day, else, the rest of my friends were post.

Weird to think about that, because most people make really solid friends in HS. I did before and after.
 
Without me it's a dud. We cool guys know we should hold out for money. Not much, just my usual promotional fee. More if they want a speech.

For the most part its just a big brag fest and dick measuring contest to see who turned out the best and if the reunion goes for more than a day then the clicks will start reforming, we even had to choose which after party to go to because of the drama. I avoided all the BS by asking what people were up to, listened to them brag about themselves and when the asked me what I was up to my general response was "about 3 beers. lets take some shots." That seems to work well. Also getting laid at your reunion is easy, just tell all the hot single girls there something like this, "geeze, I was such a dork in highschool, I totally had a school crush on you and was to goofy to ever tell you, hahaha being a kid is sooooo awkward, I like being an adult much better." Make small talk then walk way like you were just reliving your old memories and it was nice to talk. By the end of the night you'll have your pick.
 
I might be interested in going to my 20th to see how old everyone got, but with stuff like Facebook you can keep up with anyone you want to pretty much already, so i don't think i'll be going to my 10th.

This is exactly why I didn't go. That sounds exactly as I envisioned it to be (and how I was later told it went). Like you, I'm better-looking now than I was in HS, though I had my share of girls just from being wild and running my mouth. I'm also more successful than many in my class (if FB is any indication). I guess that's the one nice thing about FB. I can save the cheap, meaningless banter with old chums for FB (which, really, it's cheap computer interaction, so it's quite fitting).

ACTUALLY, UNLIKE MANY AMERICAN CITIES SUCH AS LA AND SEATTLE, PORTLAND NIGHTLIFE DOESN'T HAVE AN OVERCROWDING OF OVERHYPED ASIAN BROS TAKING OVER ENTIRE VENUES, HENCEFORTH, ITS NOT THAT BAD.
