I think Dame/Aaron Goodwin are counting on general goodwill towards Dame making Cronin look bad if he pulls a Morey and just refuses to trade Dame. But I think they've miscalculated, and Dame has just manage to light all goodwill towards him on fire. So there's no downside to just not trading Dame. Let him just sit there getting older.

What is Joe doing lol
Well, maybe they're not "substantial" because Riley's like "Herro and Robinson and I'll throw in a first" and Joe responds with "everything in your cupboard not named Bam or Butler" and it's a race to see who hangs up first.

At this point Joe has laid out the bottom line and until Goodwin and Riley put that on the table, there's nothing to say. It's Miami and his agent's job to get the package to buy Dame's contract and I highly doubt they don't know where the line in the sand is. Joe's job is to audition offers for Lillard

It'll give a whole new meaning to Dame time.

Absolutely.

See, it's all bullshit. Mannix is a great reporter and I believe that his report is "informed". Dame would go to any team that gave him a solid chance at a title. I think just that report being out there will open teams up to making offers that Goodwin was maybe not scaring off but making hesitant. I think he would go to Brooklyn if the deal were something like.

The Nets stay super deep with a rotation of Dame, Bridges, Johnson, DFS, Claxton, Nurk, Dinwiddie, O'Neal and Walker and they would still have the TPMLE to use to add another impact rotation player or if they're all in they could try and add someone that would fit into the nearly 20M TPE that the Harris trade created for them by using their 3 remaining available future firsts. That team would be a contender, depending on who they added maybe not a favorite but still a contender.

Honestly, I'd much rather the above Nets trade than the Miami deal.

I'd like to kick the tires on Simmons. He may be a terrible fit, but it's not the end of the world if he is. It's a year shorter than Nurk's deal, and maybe his expiring deal might be more attractive to another team looking to get out of their own max deal hell. If he does fit, well, he'd be an awesome reclamation project. Hope he can play some center for us. I can see how a Scoot/Simmons pick and roll could be quite lethal--if you sag off Simmons he can create shots for others or rebound misses, even if he doesn't shoot.

Clowney, Sharpe and Whitehead are all 20's first round picks from the past 3 years, and all are over 6'6. Might be something of value there.
Yeah, we probably don't win a lot of games, but that's fine. It's about going young and tanking.

I don't know how much Simmons' problems were based on something irreversible, or how much was Embiid and Doc passive-aggressive (and then aggressive-aggressive) blaming of him for team losses. It wasn't just Game 7, it was the year's worth of FT shooting issues, loss of confidence in setting him up as the prime ballhandler, moving his defensive assignments around. I don't know that it was because he was getting lazier in practice or not focusing during games, but getting him remotely healthy and removing him from a toxic Doc/Embiid situation may get a serviceable piece back, to say nothing of if he actually starts playing good basketball as he enters his prime.

Then again, he may want to put IG videos of him partying with Drake and Kardashians while collecting 40+M in checks up more than he wants to practice basketball---I have no idea.

Can you link the Mannix report?

You know what I've seen from Heat fans? That Lillard landed us two lottery picks, last two years, as he agreed to sit, so what else do we want??
Tanking was stupid, but it has nothing to do with Lillard’s value on the open market, and it certainly doesn’t mean Miami is entitled to get him for less.

Yah Joe, keep holding firm onto that weiner schnitzel.

That's why they would take on salary and give a two draft picks if they want to send Ben out in a trade in which they get Herro.

Don't get me wrong, I'm down for this (I said--depending on the personal interviews and seeing where his mind's at--I'd probably like him over Ayton, Towns, and Gobert). But I don't know. For instance, I'm pretty sure that, if we got Herro, we are banking on upside of a really good shooter who can maybe become passible at defense, but we can have him be a catch-and-shoot guy. Simmons has a massively low floor and a massive ceiling.

Because of the glut of guards that we have I would much rather picks or even a pick plus a seemingly bad contract than Herro.

What Mannix report? Never mind I saw it. Hmm interesting and sounds reasonable and plausible.

not sure it's all reasonable and plausible:

I can't see Boston coming up with a good trade package at all if Brown wasn't involved

what? Brogdon and White? Great, 2 more guards. And a bunch of draft picks just about guaranteed to be in the late 20's.

no thanks

Boston has nothing of value if they don't send out Brown.

No sir....I really believe we need to do right by Dame.
Im sure we will end up with a decent pkg...
Joe could have prevented this from happening, he's just too naive still when it comes to making trades.
He is playing to his strengths which is young players and cap. Thats cool....buy I'd like top see Dame end up where he'd like if its within reason.
Your so right, because making half a billion dollars, getting your cousin to play on the team, having coaches and GMs cater to you and consult with you, having the town fawn all over you, and making the playoffs for 9 years out of 11 is not having done right by him. It's just been such a one-sided relationship.

Yeah I noticed that as well. I meant more that GM's were aware Lillard would still play. BOS getting Lillard without giving up Brown is hilarious. They have less in their cupboard than Miami.

Yeah, they have nothing that interests me but it's just the fact that they are moving off of one team that I find notable. They realize they have no leverage. Goodwin knows that Dame not reporting is a complete and total bluff. So when other teams around the league that feel they are competitive see this, it may cause more offers to come in and it definitely just gives Joe the opportunity to tell Miami they aren't the only team.

Edit: Also I think Miami meant to take Jaquez off of the board by signing him, so they have incentive to put together an offer that Joe will take between now and the beginning of next month. It's just as likely that Miami got him signed the first second they could because they knew this shit would drag into next month and want his salary to count as matching. They're over that second apron so they can't take on extra salary over like 100k of what they're sending out.

Even with all of what you say, and there is a reason the town fawn all over him, I still think Dame is a stellar young man and he's been a great representation for our city. IMO, he's always been a class act!
