When should Portland start thinking about the future and trade Camby, Miller, etc for picks and young guys?

Not quite yet -- they're playing pretty well and I think they want to be 100% sure (as opposed to the current 99.8% sure) that Roy is done as an All-Star caliber performer. The deal that makes the mos sense is putting Miller into a three-way deal that brings back Devin Harris, perhaps as part of a larger Melo trade. I think Harris would be great in Nate's system with all the high isos.

Realized that as soon as I hit "submit" on the last question ... but for half a year at least, it might work real well. And who knows, maybe McMillan comes back. There's gonna be a coach/GM freeding frenzy when that lockout ends and some weird things are probably gonna happen as a result.

I don't know if Harris is the answer, but with the way Aldridge and Matthews are playing at both ends of the court, all this team needs in order to be in elite company is a point guard that can keep the perimeter defense off-balance. That means being able to penetrate and shoot, but with an eye toward distributing (to LMA) first and foremost. Is Harris happy in that role, or will he take us back to more of a Roy offense with the primary ball handler ISO'ing heavily?

News: Harris (quad) "totally" expects to be back at practice on Monday, according to USA Today.
Spin: The Nets don't play again until Wednesday, giving Harris' quad more than sufficient time to heal. Feel free to cut bait with Jordan Farmar (again), but keep him on your watch list as Harris staying healthy for the remainder of the season is about as likely as Brett Favre staying retired.


I really like Devon Harris' game, but he's always hurt. With the run of injuries this team has had, we have to take that into consideration. At least you can count on Miller to lace 'em up every night.
