And they just said that we had a deal in place in place 2 years ago to get Devin Harris but we did not want to give up Travis Outlaw.

Holy Shit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

They did not mention anything but that, but they kicker of the deal was we did not want to give up Travis.

Wow, wow again.

Old news. At the time I remember people like Tony Kornheiser saying it would be a bad deal for the Blazers.

Do you recall what the deal was? Couldn't be anyone much better than Outlaw, since he was the kicker.

IIRC it was the Kidd trade...with Harris coming here, Jack and Outlaw going out.

Found it;
In the proposed trade, Dallas and Portland would send the Nets a package that includes the Mavs’ Devean George and Jerry Stackhouse and Blazers forwards Travis Outlaw and Channing Frye and guard Jarrett Jack. Mavericks point guard Devin Harris would be sent to Portland. Along with Kidd, the Nets would send reserve forward Malik Allen and center Jamaal Magloire to Dallas.

I'm very doubtful that that deal was ever on the table for Portland, do the "Talkin' Ball" guys have any inside info or are they just talking crap?

Old "news" but TO > Harris by a huge margin so what's your point? :dunno:

sports writers trade rumors in their columns and talk shows to the point they pick up a familiar legitimacy. GMs have no reason to ever tell them the real dirt... at best they're getting BS floated by agents trying to give their clients the impression they're doing something. But the basketball consumer wants their rumors, so somebody's got to supply that demand.

Did any sports columnist speculate on one one of the big deals that just went down a day or two in advance?

Eh... who needs a 26-year-old All-Star point guard anyways?

Those tools have NO inside info!!!!!!!

There is not one chance Portland turned down that offer because of Outlaw.

Not one.

I have been disappointed in KP for the last year and half or so, but I can't imagine he wouldn't pull the trigger on this kind of a deal.

At least, I don't want to live in a world where our GM believes Outlaw + Jack has more value then Devin Harris. I just don't.

I smell a Mt. Tabor rendezvous coming on!

And remember, last year Travis was in "breaking out" mode. Couple that with "Roy's my BFF" and you can see how someone can whiff.

I'm pretty sure the Shaq to Cleveland deal was talked about nearly a week ago. It doesn't happen very often, but sometimes you get these deals that are actually out in the open before they happen. I wonder if that's going to be the case with Hinrich.
