I don't know. Their position changes from time to time or year to year.
So I just go with what the Boarder patrol says we need to lock it down. That seems like the right thing to do. I could envision getting by with
an M60 about every 200 yards on normal day. Might need some back up when 8000 rush area though. More ammo carriers at least.
Man, just think of whine that would raise. Converting 8000 rushers into a visual deterrent would give Nancy righteous indignation.
But perhaps a wall would look moral in comparison though.
according to gen. john kelly, former head of homeland security, this statement is incorrect or at the very least not representative of their position in his experience while the chief of their administrative agency:
When Kelly led Homeland Security in early 2017, one of his first steps was to seek advice from those who “actually secure the border,” Customs and Border Protection agents whom Kelly calls “salt-of-the-earth, Joe-Six-Pack folks.”
“They said, ‘Well we need a physical barrier in certain places, we need technology across the board, and we need more people,’ ” he said.
this is a direct quote from his very recent interview with the la times.
i think it is disingenuous to say that , because they are holding his "wall" hostage, that they don't agree to any border securing barriers. he will eventually get funding for his section of border "wall" that he will name after himself as in "the trump towers", to massage his ego, but the all or nothing kill the hostage negotiating position isn't going to fly.
if he could get mexico to build it, do it. short of that, which was how we were sold on how it would be built, he needs the house of represetatives to approve funding. the constitution states they are 1/2 of the legislative branch and they control the purse strings.
for two years he couldn't say yes to deals that would have given him the funding he now demands. he and the republican party no longer control the entire legislative branch.
the government needs to be reopened on the CR, and his wall, and immigration negotiated as an aside with the funding for the dept. of homeland security.
