Federal employees are not politically-influenced by shutdowns. They know they'll get paid for all that time off, so it's a gift really. Meantime they can get an emergency loan from their Thrift Savings Plan at 1% interest (which pays back into their account, which gets matching funds from the government).

They are more likely to have unshakeable views, regardless of party, and are either for or against building a wall no matter how long the Schumer-shutdown drags on.

I figure that a shutdown belongs to whoever is demanding something new in our budget. In this case Trump is demanding a new Wall. Trump has confirmed this by stating that he would proudly take the blame for the shutdown. Case closed.

Yeah Federal workers are so happy that many TSA agents have been calling in sick. Tell you what, seeing as how you are so gungho to spend billions for a wall I will ask for 2 simple things from you.

1) tell us how much money you have donated for the wall funding you keep posting

2) take any income you will be receiving and put it into a non interest earning account that can;t be touched as long as the shutdown goes on for and then tell us that it's not affecting you.

I can't see how wall this standoff ends. The Dems in the house have their constituents totally behind them denying the wall and Trump will lose his base if he backs down. Trump may own the shutdown, but those 800,000 employees own the consequences. I don't know when the pressure changes, but at some point the politicians will feel the pressure shift. Many of Trump supporters and Democrat supporters will begin to feel the pinch. Regardless of who owns the shutdown, it will need to end eventually.

It ends when the pressure of the loss felt by a government shutdown hits the fan. I don't think it's going to be much longer. It will probably entail some sort of face saving measure to attenuate Trump's embarrassment for Trump because he got nothing out of a tragic waste of government providing the services the public needs such as Welfare funding, food stamps, or whatever they call it these days, and income tax refunds. I think they're going to have to say they will revisit the issue at some later date.
