To Golden State:
Bayless, Outlaw, Cash

To Portland:
Stephen Jackson

It's close but not close enough on RealGM, but on the salaries page in this site it's said that we have a Trade Exception of 2.something that should cover it and I remember we should be getting some cap-space from Patteri and Freeland staying in Europe.
It could be this generation's Pippen-trade...

We've talked about Jackson before. I've liked Jackson, but he has had so much drama around him, even lately, which I think would turn KP off.

cant combine Trade Exceptions with other players me thinks

Can't combine TE with players in a trade. However, Claver's also staying in Europe, so cap number goes down by about $2.6M once the season starts. Should be more than enough to bridge the gap between Jackson's $7.65M and Outlaw/Bayless' combined $5.74M.

That said, he's a career 42% shooter with a very high usage rate over the past 5 years. I don't think he's quite what we want at our 3 spot.

ok I thought I had heard you cant combine. Thanks for backing me up ;)

We really need to keep Jerryd guys, in case anything happens to Rudy. If you have any doubts about Rex... buy a ticket to a game and go watch him. He is intense to watch! He will make you a fan.

And say no to Jackson. He would be fine the first few months here, trying to impress, then once he is comfortable he will go right back to his thug way.

No thanks.

I am a big Bayless fan. But if he were the asking price for a player like Gerald Wallace.. I wouldnt say no. But yes for S-Jax... def a NO. not to mention that they have Curry and Monta.. I doubt they would want Bayless.

S.Jackson is a headcase. We dont need knuckleheads like that on our team.

Was Jax ever convicted of rape?

No, but he has been involved with multiple legal transgressions.

Did he ever win six championships, make multiple all-star games, win a gold medal, or get named to a 50-greatest list? No there, too.

Suffice to say that he's a lot more like Patterson than Pippen. Why don't you impugn his comparison instead of mine.

In certain situations, like 4th quarter of game 7 against the Lakers, I would rather have S-Jax than Batum or Outlaw or even Webster.

How about tweaking the trade a little bit:
Outlaw/Batum/Rights for Joel Freeland
for
Jackson

Our depth chart:

Blake/Miller/Bayless/Mills(IR)
Roy/Rudy
Jackson/Webster/Cunningham (IR)
LMA/Howard/?
Joel/Oden/Pendergraph(IR)

I wouldn't give anything of value for Jackson, who they don't want. Certainly not Batum and Freeland, and not Bayless, most likely, either. Also, they don't really need Bayless, with Curry and Montae holding down the undersized 2 guard role on the team.

What's a better SF rotation?

Batum/Webster/Outlaw sharing 48 minutes

Jackson/Webster sharing 48 minutes

Before you answer, take a look at this stat: last year, Batum and Outlaw played a combined 48 minutes per, S-Jax played less than 40 MPG. And if we trade 2-for-1 we get +2.6 Points and 4.6 Assists (-1.8 Rebounds) even with this differencial in minutes.
If we could turn Batum and Outlaw into one player, we're loosening a lot in the PT-issue-department.
And remember, we still have Cunningham, and Claver and Webster. We lose some youth but it's a good consolidation trade IMO,

Jackson got those stats on a significantly faster paced team, for one. he also took a little over two more shots per game to get those extra 2.6 points. he took just as many shots as brandon Roy did last season. We also gain an extra 2 TOs per game from jackson. And yes, Batum and Outlaw combined for 48 minutes, but Outlaw saw a lot of his time at PF, allowing us to get Roy adn Rudy out on the court together. Not that outlaw made an ideal PF, but I don't see Jackson playing that role for us this season. Add to that his horrible shot selection and his off the court problems, and his incessant whining this offseason, and no thanks.

1.
One source on the court says Kobe addressed Jax as ‘Young Fella,' and for some odd reason that pushed Jackson over the edge. Soon, Jackson was cursing Nellie and storming to the locker room on his way to a two-game preseason suspension.

2.
Over the summer he alienated himself from his coach, his team, and the city where he plays. And that couldn’t have been easy in a city where they have a Stephen Jackson Day. Why stop there?

3.
The disgruntled swingman later publicly lashed out at Bryant, telling reporters he's "not a fan" of Kobe, accusing him of playing dirty and suggesting "If it came down to a real fight, I know what would happen."

4.
Jackson asked to be dropped as a captain, which Nelson agreed to. Jackson explained that he didn’t want to be responsible for the younger players, and, anyway, “being a captain is overrated to me.”

I asked him if he thought this could turn into a Tinsley-Marbury situation, where the Warriors would send him away indefinitely, and Jackson said: “If they want to send me home and pay me, I’m fine with that.”

Guess I'm going to have to pass.

Just curious: Why do you want SJax?

You do realize he ain't all that, dontcha?

Oh dear - I just saw the Pippen comment. Don't even go there. No. Please. Just stop. (those from the Fanhome days will know why)
