Given that everyone seems to think a trade is imminent (we'll see), and given how pissed we were about what we got for CJ and for RoCo et al., seems worth asking this question

I expect to be a bit disappointed and say I'd prefer to have brought Dame to camp.

I'm concerned I'll be devastated and it will be a horrible return.

I'm hopeful I'll be pleasantly surprised.

I didn't vote as I don't agree with any of the poll options.

Cronin making a trade usually results in disappointment.

I'm not counting Nurk for Ayton in the deal really.

Nothing I have seen comes close to making up for the loss of Dame so my expectations are tempered. If the return falls below my tempered expectations I'm going to be in epic meltdown mode.

None of these options fits how I feel either.

I would have said the Miami one last week. Now I am not sure. No we are not getting a star back like Dame, but if we can upgrade one position I would be ok.

I want to gamble on Ayton. I know there are flaws in his game/contract but I think he upgrades the center position.
If we could get a solid defensive 4 back as well I would be happy.

Not picking one of your options.

I suspect I'll be disappointed, but I think we held the bag too long and Dame's value isn't what it would have been a couple years ago.

I'll be moderately satisfied if we get 3 picks, a couple young guys, and maybe a starter quality player.

I'm sure I will handle it just fine, because very few transactions really get me up in arms.

I'm more curious to see the reactions of the people who have been pushing for a Dame trade prior to his request because they thought that was the better path. I look forward to the predictable responses that we sold low or should've sold sooner/later that we get about nearing all trades.

Other than the picks, I'll be disappointed if the return is Jovic and Jaquez. I'll need at least 3 picks by the way.

My thoughts are just the opposite of yours. After holding out three months on making a horribly one-sided deal with the Heat, if Joe settles now for a sack of crap like you’re saying, it’s going to be tar and feathers time for Joe.

I'll be disappointed if we cannot turn Dame into strengthening our frontline, immediately. Hopefully a really good young three or 4/5. Picks at the end of the decade will not help Scoot & Shae.

I won’t be disappointed at all.

I said before the draft, if we draft Scoot, Dame is gone … and he is going to pick where he wants to go, and none of those teams had assets, so I’ve never expected much.

And some people said it’s “not our problem” :biglaugh:

it's hard to gauge without knowing what the real buzz is.

I think there could be a silver lining to a bad trade: Portland ratcheting up their lottery odds over the next 5 years. Any disappointment on the return has to be calibrated against that

now, if I was gauging on a scale of my ex-wives, the Blazers winning 27 games a year on Root Sports would be heaven

I’m ready to turn the page. More time for the young guys and collecting assets, getting away from his contract will be nice as well.

His demanding of a trade might be a blessing in disguise because I predict 1-2 more years of solid production before the decline happens drastically.

Not a Lillard hater. I loved him as a Blazer and what he’s done for the franchise. I just look at my sports team in a larger scope.

Also, it makes the trade of Lillard SO much easier knowing that his heir apparent is waiting in the wings.

As long as it’s not an Otis Thorpe type return, I’m cool with it.

It was funny listening to Bob act like the Houston trade was a good deal that was worth waiting for.

Supposedly everyone wanted to do a trade with Clyde going to Seattle for Kendal Gill but Wally Walker was a new GM and he thought Bob was pulling one over on him. Sonics would have gotten a ring if they had picked up Clyde.

I'll answer the question after I see what we get for him - IF he's traded!

Yeah I think that was Whitsett’s first move as GM. It was an awful trade. Thorpe was just a run of the mill player on the twilight of his career and we got like a player to be named later from Argentina who never even came close to playing in the NBA.

Luckily, the Pippen trade made up for it and I was more enthusiastic about that trade than any other I can remember.

I’m living in a delusional fantasy where the FO owns up to their word and makes moves to strengthen the roster and keep Dame here. But in reality nobody wants Simons.

That’s the problem, and it’s not “Ant hate”, It’s just the problem.

Same. If Dame goes to literally any team other than Miami for basically any package, I will accept it. What I don't want is Dame going to Miami for any package other than the ultra-mega-giga max trade and even then I hate it and would prefer a lesser package with another team because I take the long view - I REALLY don't understand how people don't get this - and it means THE LEAGUE IS DONE. It's literally done except for 7 teams because you have to win with Rookie superstars which is exceedingly rare to the point of it basically never happens.

Why? Because everyone will use the Dame formula from here on out. Consider, Dame made an entire marketing campaign and persona around undying loyalty, and he is doing this. Imagine you draft the next AD, or Lebron. Wow that's lucky! You might win a chip right? Well you got 4 years and then, no, they are gone. So unless you have a team that is one piece away somehow and THEN you draft a generational talent, you have ZERO chance of winning a championship if you aren't among the lucky 7 or so teams that are desirable.

So again, I would trade Dame for a significantly lower package just to avoid this. I will be happy with any trade where he goes to a team OTHER than Miami. Any trade with Miami is the toll of doom for this franchise especially, and about 22 other franchises as well.

If we get a couple three first round picks, an upgrade at center and c couple young guys with upside all while dumping bad salaries, an injury prone guy and a player that does not want to be here, I am fine with that.

We trade Dame for a bad package them Miami turns around and trades him a year later for a much better haul.

Cronin goes into big trades in scatter formation. If the Lillard trade goes through, I expect about 4 players nobody's heard of to be Blazers for a day, and 7 draft picks of various calibration.

Every little bit of draft help will be needed moving forward through cap space and flexibility. This will be Portland's 3rd season of rebuild. Picks picks picks.

We aren't going to get fair value in return. It is what it is. And that's not Cronin's fault.

As long as Scoot stays, I will be fine and so will the Blazers.
