They are hitting upscale malls in OC now too. Robbing diners as they eat.

Hey there, they damn well better wait until I finish my dinner and have a few drinks else they're gonna have more trouble than they bargained on.

i do think this is a good idea but not the only answer. A mask on and a change of clothes after ducking under a cover, and nothing can be proven.
The mask and change of clothes doesn't change anything. This doesn't typically have high enough resolution to identify a person, but it allows you to track a target to a location. Then once you have suspects you can do police work to eliminate them from consideration.

It's not a replacement for police work, just a supplement. This has been used many times and has lead to many convictions.

And they could up the resolution as necessary.

In this time of violence and political discourse its really heart warming to see everyone come together and brainstorm ways to make sure massive corporations don't suffer product losses. I'm particularly fond of the increased surveillance, vigilante justice and heavy handed authoritarian approachs.

So you condone theft and burglary of businesses?

This is not the way to get money from large corporations. We all pay for this via increased pricing and insurance.

The correct way is to change laws regarding tax, incentives, and benefits to make sure corporations pay people better.

I'm actually on the fence about the eye in the sky solution. I could support it being used in high crime areas.

But the short of that, just arm the stores and when it starts happening fire a warning shot in the air. They'll clear fast. Otherwise, if people start getting shot they'll think about it a bit harder before pulling this.

It sucks, but... Fixing the roof is probably cheaper than what's going on here.

So the person working at the store for a minimum wage, that doesn't even come close to giving them a liveable wage, now requires that they handle firearms and make life and death decisions. Great idea. Let's force more work requirements and danger on criminally underpaid and overworked retail workers. Great idea.

Okay. But there is a fine line between that and having someone show up with a gun to fend off the criminals.

See rittenhouser.

There is a significant difference between having a gun to defend yourself and your business, and obtaining a gun you can't legally buy for the purpose of being a traveling vigilante...

One makes you a responsible American, the other makes you a fucking idiot. And when things break the idiots way enough that he doesn't go to jail for murder he graduates to the status of Lucky Fucking Idiot.

I didn't say anything about a requirement. Ideally you'd have security or police on premises at these malls.

But we should certainly support business owners who want to have a gun to defend their business from these acts. If they want to be there or pay am employee more, or even have an employee volunteer, it makes no difference to me.

I also specifically said we need to up the pay and benefits of most employees.

The soft-on-crime Leftist policies that have been enabled in these cities in recent years are the cause of this. I think in SF you can now steal and loot up to $1,000 without it being a felony! Empower criminals and these are your results, 10 times out of 10. They can get what's coming to them as far as I'm concerned.

Or maybe these places have higher population and it's easier do something like this if there are enough people close enough who also want to do it?

Walnut Creek and Hayward are not in San Francisco.

They will probably figure something out although it will probably be inconvenient. Probably have to go back to counting people and only allowing so many people in stores. Bulletproof glass?

Where is the outrage? Coming to a neighborhood near you.

"Last weekend, the City of Oakland was inundated with armed roving caravans who targeted dozens of businesses, including pharmacies, retail shops, and a large number of cannabis operations," a statement from the police department said.
"Individuals within the caravans are heavily armed and have exchanged gunfire with armed security employed by some of the cannabis businesses. Individuals within the caravans also fired multiple rounds at OPD officers responding to a burglary in progress early Monday morning."

Do you know how long people have been saying that?
I realize that but it has to be hit head on, or it will get even worse than it has of late.
So, we just let them rob and hurt people?
