Why bring something up to someone that is offering you things they don't have to In the early stages of said relationship, when these people literally have nothing to do with any of the Contract negotiations on the business side of things.

It makes absolutely no sense and would make us come off as giant assholes.

Blazers: hey sly, we really like our relationship with s2 and want to make sure you guys are happy. Is there anything we can do to strengthen our relationship

Sly: you're Damn right there is. You fucked us with Comcast and we all hate your guts. If you're even thinking of resigning with them you can shove it up your ass. You better not resign with them.

Blazers: uh, ok? That's a different department and I don't have anything to do with that.

Sly: I don't give a Damn. You need to be reminded of your injustice to our fans.

Blazers: uhhhhh ok. Maybe we need to rethink this relationship. Again we have nothing to do with that.

These things are sales and business 101 bro. You don't bite the head off of someone offering you swag and generosity for something they literally have no control over.

You obviously don't understand what it means to make a point without actually making a point. I'm not actually suggesting that he should've done this, but since I know they're reading the board I hope they see it and don't think that just being silent about it means fans have forgotten about it or have gotten over it.

There are more than one way to get HCP to mow your lawn.

Plus, this is about a fan forum, and what the team can do to improve the relationship with fans. If they don't realize that the TV deal has weakened their fan base, they're delusional.

And they rely on this forum for some inside view of how fans feel about certain things, so bringing it up wouldn't be the end of the world because it's a PR thing. This message board is PR too.

And, btw, I like how you went with the "we hate your fucking guts" bit, as if that's actually even remotely close to what I said. But we gotta go back to sucking up to Sly, and the Blazers I guess.

Wow, this grew fast. I know I made the initial post about Comcast in this thread, so maybe I should clarify a couple things with my intentions. MY view of Commiecast is real, but my question to Sly was in jest. I never actually thought anyone would take it serious. You simply don't go discussing things like that during the first or second date. Its like talking about exes. Seriously . These tv contracts are multi-million dollar deals. No offense to Sly, but I highly doubt hes meeting with anyone who has anything to do with anyone who has anything to do with the contract. This contract I doubt even Olshey has anything to do with. This would be PA, his lawyers and maybe one or two of his right hand men.
My point about my post was that I believe they do read these boards and I would think this thread would be one of interest. A perfect time to get our view of Commiecast out there for them to know, without having to bring it up during said meeting.
Though, Ive never met Sly in person, its obvious he is very even keeled and a perfect ambassador for this forum.

If dish is cheaper for you, that's on you to make the decision not to get Comcast. Call them up and use dishs prices to get the deal you want from Comcast. I'm starting to get the feeling you really never took business 101.

A worse product that costs more? I told you, use dish prices against Comcast when signing up. That's what I did with Frontier and Comcast when frontier fucked me, and Comcast hooked me up for internet and tv for $60/month. Personally I hate dish and directv, had both growing up.

But anyways, I'm done with this conversation.

Comcast is the devil and they suck because they make it hard for me to get good deals from them. They should just bend over and let me give it to them at all times.

J Fiddle, your a bit delusional. Sorry man, but your not getting it

Check this link out and then continue to defend Comcast.

Sorry JFiddle, but I don't think your support of Comcast will get any praise from those that really know about Comcast.
I have actually been witness to conversations from regional management during negotiations with subcontractors as small talk, right after the Warner Merger and then looking into purchasing Charter. There were several employees talking about how Comcast is going to lead the new world order and when the right time came, they would be the facilitator of the propaganda.
Obviously probably wishful thinking my extremists, but Comcast Is putting themselves into a position to have that type of capability.

In a world where news is so untrustworthy, why in the hell would anyone want to support a company that is continually limiting your ability to have a choice?

I don't care what the masses think. Comcast has always bent over backwards for me ans treated me extremely well.

I'm just tired of hearing people bitch and complain, that have the opportunity to actually get Comcast, and choose not to. Bitch about not getting to see the blazer games.

I'm not delusional, my interactions with them have been real. I know how to talk to them to get what I want. It's amazing what you can get out of life with the power of persuasion

I think the consensus to that is that it shouldn't have to take that in order for a company to "be kind to you and get what you want". That's where I think it rubs people the wrong way.

Then, there's a pure fact of people being educated and also realizing that cable is not really a necessity anymore... so why pay for it?

Then don't pay for it. That's the person's choice.

Lots of people in this country want everything handed to them. It doesn't hurt to have to work for it. Frontier fucked me over big time, so I called Comcast and got everything I wanted at a much lower price than frontier was willing to Give.

It's all about gaming the system to win

I mean for fucks sake, most other countries in the world have negotiations when you buy anything.

But Comcast and first world problems

I don't pay for it. I like to not help greedy corporations. Cable is not a necessity anymore.

I was going to compose something for this thread, and I yawned many times to get into the mood, but I just couldn't get boring enough.

1) What format falls under the "other" category? I'm stumped.

2) Gotta give my 2 cents on the comcast issue. I moved to the east coast from Tacoma, WA (grew up in Pierce county) earlier this year so it no longer applies to me, but I completely understand the bitterness. I lived in Salem for a couple years (07-09). When I was there, I had the standard comcast cable service with 60 channels or whatever, including CSNNW with most of the games. Then I moved back to the Tacoma area. There (and anywhere due north), you can still get CSNNW to watch the games but you have to subscribe to a higher cable tier to do so. To me, that's fucked. Comcast considers that location to be in the blazers market, but charges you more than if you're in the Portland metro area or SW Washington...WTF? I couldn't afford the required tier (it was like $40/month more than the comparable tier in the Portland area), so I had to ask my parents (they had the required tier) to record the games on their DVR and drive 7 miles to their house to watch the games when I found the time. I understand that business is business and all, but I considered that to be a low blow by comcast. Why in the hell would they want to make it harder for blazers fans farther away to watch games?
