But like I said, I think they were looking for more of a spot up shooter like Shard.
but vince can do so much more than rashard....its hard to imagine a team wanting a worse player. vince is a better passer and inside player and clutch player.
Which makes no sense. LA was losing until Kobe took over. How is that his fault?
this is what vince said:
“The only bad thing about it is that younger kids, whose minds are easily warped, are going to think, ‘Ohhh! I am going to go out there and do it instead of (honoring) the team concept first. That is what is missing in the game, guys understanding how to play as a team.
“I think it is great for (the NBA): They want scoring, they want ratings, and you are going to get that. You are definitely going to get them now with the amount of 50-point games, 60-plus games. I just hope that kids and young guys understand that (only) special guys can do that. Yeah, the (other Lakers) were trying to get Kobe the ball, they wanted to see a special night. But they all know their roles.
“Guys understanding their roles is probably the hardest thing to accept in the NBA right now. Everybody wants to prove they are a professional, wants to be a star in this league. You can still become a star in your own right if you just play your role.”
i agree with what he said....of course it was spectacular what kobe did and im still in awe of it, dont get me wrong, but that is the kind of guy vince is. a real team guy and who actually believes in the team concept. that is how he was taught in high school and college.
I can't recall what you're talking about. When was this comment made?
during jan/feb of 07 when the trade deadline was near, and vince still wasnt sure if he was gonna resign, orlando magic GM said that carter was "fool's gold" an they werent interested in him. carter haters around the world rejoiced that they had someone on their side and threads starting popping up saying "SEE???? the league hates carter and he is a soft, weak etc" but i was just saying later that GM clarified that statement referring to him leaving for another team...not him as a player.
It's not like he had a choice. No other team was jumping at him.
we will never know. a player averaging 25ppg is a free agent, its hard to imagine NOBODY wanting him ..... i dont know what teams were interested in him....maybe they already knew he was signing back in jersey...were just fans, im sure rod and vince know the truth.
