We should hire that one coach who was going to be the next Phil Jackson….what was his name…..he took over the most talented lineup in the league and “lead” them to a 39-4 record during the ‘15-‘16 season…. Oh yeah Luke Walton. I thought he was supposed to be a coaching genius. Yeah not so much.
Coaches get too much credit and too much blame. Even the GREAT Luke Walton couldn’t have lead this collection of talent to a win against the Clips.

Talent wins, not coaches.

It’s not the record. It’s the scheme
what scheme did you like from the Spurs that you arent seeing on the Blazers?

Talent wins, not coaches. people use to say Stotts needs to go, now Billups. the next coach it will be the same if we dont have better TALENT!!!

I never said Stotts needed to go. He is a good coach.

Billups isn't, as far as I can tell.

If I was being told im a bad coach cuz my team lost n i had matisse thybulle n jerami grant as my starting forwards n the other team had kahwi leonard n paul george --- and I have a rookie point guard starting n the other team has former mvp russell westbrook..

id quit..and laugh in your face..

"find someone else!" cuz ur gonna complain about them too, cuz their job is far more difficult than your making it out to be..

its not that chauncey is bad at his job.. its more a matter of your lack of comprehension about how hes supposed to be judged..

people wanna squeeze blood from a stone around here
It's not about the results, it's about the process. Seperate the two.

Nobody is making this claim. This is a straw man. You're debating with nobody.

Talent wins, not coaches.
That's why Rafer Alston was such a huge success in the NBA.

Funny how much more talented the Warriors suddenly got when they replaced Mark Jackson with Steve Kerr. Likewise the Bulls when Phil Jackson replaced Doug Collins.

If the Blazers had THE BEST COACH IN THE LEAGUE...

how many wins do you think they'd have with this current roster?

some alarmingly bad stuff so far from billups. no semblance of any schemes on offense, defense still making basic mistakes.

he's anchored himself to scoot. so he will get at least this year whether he deserves it or not.

More this season than with Billups. Increasing at a higher rate every year until they peaked at a far higher peak than they would ever reach with Billups.

ya know what... Im inspired by the posters on this forum, you guys are right. Color me convinced! I know a compelling argument when I see one!

I'm gonna join the Chauncey Billups haters club.. If you'll have me?! ;)

I think this is a 60-win team if we just had the ghost of Jeff Van Gundy coaching instead of that malignant tumor Chauncey Billups! There I said it --- happy now?

Personally I think Chauncey should be given an IQ and a vision test plus someone should check his residence to see if hes hording old newspapers like a crazy old lady --- cuz thats the kind of energy his coaching gives off.. I wonder if hes even smart enough to operate his vehicle in a safe manner, ya know, im not just worried about the teams performance im worried about those families driving home from the game getting back safe and sound! chaunceys on the loose u better buckle up and pray for your souls!

what does chauncey even do between the games does he go to the duck pond with a bunch of bread crumbs or something? anyone know?

Wow. You just gave a great example of a straw man!

Either we've seen this person before and none of us should take anything he says seriously, OR it's an elaborate troll by some Miami Heat knuckledragger.

BUT considering the absolute hyperbole responses he's been spewing out lately, I think it's a safe bet to say he's either mixum or tunchi (even tho he's far too coherent to be either one of them).

Marcus Smart and Jalen Suggs are recent comps for Scoot, but both of them are defensively elite. So he needs to work on that part of his game, too, which is hard when you're fouling out.

I'd say he needs time in the G-League, but two years is probably enough...

I feel like Scoot and Shaedon are setup to fail. With no offensive scheme, Scoot flounders and Shaedon wastes away in the corner far too often rather than keeping him on the move and encouraging passing. Our assists are abysmally low and it is because we have the same offensive scheme (or lack thereof) we had we Dame, everyone stand around until Dame (or now someone else) does something.

I'm finding the Blazers painful to watch.

I'm honestly shocked how close the game was last night and feel like if we had a plan, we could have won but as long as Billups is coach, I expect piss-poor performance.

I asked this in another thread and I will ask it here - What coaches that might be available employ a "system" that would work well with a young team like this?

Jonathan Smith!

Oh wait, wrong sport.

Never mind.

I don't know what the point of Billups's offense is, but getting shots for Ayton is obviously not a priority.
Ayton's a mobile big man who can move around to get open. There's no reason he has to be standing motionless surrounded by three defenders before he gets a pass.

And what happened to Ayton taking some 3-pointers?

The Blazers shot 28% on 3-pointers last night so it's not like he'd be taking shots from Simons on a heater.

becky hammon won 2 wnba rings since we rejected her

It would be so wierd to put Billups on assistant job and let Becky run the show.
But I would go bold and hire them as a duo. Becky to put the system into a play, so we can look like a team with some direction and Billups to help her hold those guys.

i'm less confident that chauncey will finish out his contract now than i was a week ago.

perhaps that's reactionary, but this isn't Scoot playing 3 games and deciding his fate. this is year 3 for billups, and building good habits for our youngins now is paramount. not really thinking chauncey is putting them in the best position to succeed.
