I think we'll be between 41-44 wins for the season.

What I wrote was perfectly clear. I just recognize your M.O. and pointed it out; there's no personal attack (i.e. "playing stupid" implies that you aren't actually stupid).

Gotcha. Good point!

Wow. Why do you say that? Have you watched all the games? And what are you seeing that tells you we'll finish the year 29-39? Are you predicting a horrific injury to Aldridge? Or are you so jaded from past seasons that it's too hard to get excited? Serious questions.

At worst, we will be .48 the rest of the way and that's being realistic. So anyone that thinks we win anything like 42-46, should rethink things. You think we will be .40 the rest of the way? Wow

if we win 46 games, in what universe is that .400? That's most definitely .500

I haven't seen any of the games other than the Denver one. I just think we'll get hit by the injury bug, which stems from being jaded from past seasons. Then again, I've been more down about this team than most going into the season.

I hope I'm wrong. Nothing would make me happier than to see this incarnation of the Blazers become a winning team.

I voted on 50-54 thinking we will get exactly 50 wins. That is almost best-case scenario for me though so I could see us getting 48 or so but I want to believe so 50 it is!

I see. I'm sorry you haven't been watching the games. Best we've played in a long time.

This is Stotts' 6th year/3rd team as a head coach. His highest win total was 40. His overall winning percentage is 42%. The defensive rating for his 5 previous squads was 22nd, 25th, 23rd, 27th, and 26th.

Mags asked if anybody thought the Blazers would play .400 ball the rest of the season. That would be right in line with Stotts' career norm.

As many people have pointed out in various threads, sustained success in the NBA requires constant adjustment. Stotts hasn't proven he can do that - yet. I hope the lightbulb has finally gone on for him and this is the year he breaks the pattern.

For comparison, other Portland three-loss teams:

1990-91: 27-3 (63-19 .768)
1977-78: 18-3 (58-24 .707)
2013-14: 16-3 (?)
1998-99: 15-3 (35-15 .700)
1999-00: 14-3 (59-23 .720)
1989-90: 12-3 (59-23 .720)

Not saying they're going to win 58-63, but maybe...

ENTITY!! You're back! You're the poster who convinced me to go on all those road games 6 years ago. How have you been?

Hah! That's right! Yeah, I've been fine, so I guess this is a little off topic, but... I took my talents to Reddit. I'm fond of the upvote/downvote system. I decided to see how you all were doing, so I had to cross-post my latest stat-dig when I saw this thread. I got out of the service and returned home to the Portland area to be a full-time student. How are you?

Cool! I'm fine. Waiting/looking for the next acting job. Enjoying the Blazers. What are you studying?

Electrical Engineering at Oregon Tech-Wilsonville (opened 2012). I have a sick fascination for logic and machines. It's been a lot of fun, but this semester is particularly brutal, but I'm doing all right for a guy in his late 30s. So I'm looking... Lady Peacock, is it? When is that coming out?

I don't see any reason why this team can't win 55 games or more. Every time the haters think "this game will show us where we're at" we win. We're undefeated against 3 of the other 4 elite teams, only cause we haven't played Miami yet. We are really good.

Bump. Our voting by this point was pretty accurate.

Damn, this should have been a public poll!

I had said 50-54.

this team continues to "surprise"! First the great start, then the slump and slew of injuries once again reduce expectations, and then a great stretch with LMA out and bench kicking in big time and we are back to a big mood upswing! Great season so far, my hope now is that we surprise in the playoffs!

I love how nearly every time, we see a normal distribution in the responses to these polls.

Our little group here is totally representative of the entire fanbase apparently. Or something like that.

haha

I think we're accurate to the different kinds of fans Portland has. A microcosm.

40-18 is so far beyond my expectations for this team that I can't wait to see how they're going to surprise me next.

We're pretty smart in aggregate.

your big words don't impress me!

I think it's still not sinking in to me about how good the record actually is. If they continue at the winning % they're at now, it's 56 wins. Which puts them as the 6th best record in team history, and nothing to be that upset about.

I'm not sure they'll end up with 56 wins, but I can't think of the last time the Blazers actually had as surprising of a season as this one is. Of course, the record of the last 15+ games has put a weird filter on the teams overall record.
