How much capspace will we really have this summer?

Bump.

Chad mentioned that we'll have between 15 and 20mil of capspace. I just looked at the numbers again, and think he's underestimating, or he's thinking that we will pick up Thabeet's or Flynn's option.

If Jamal opts out, this is what we have on the payroll:
-LA- 13mil
-Wes- 6.5mil
-Nic's caphold- 5.5mil
-Draft pick 1- ~3mil (around pick 7)
-Draft pick 2- ~2.5mil (around pick 10)
-Babs- 1.9mil
-Email- 1.4mil
-Smith- 1.4mil

That totals out to 35.2mil.

With a 60mil cap, that is nearly 25mil of capspace in addition to 2 lottery picks. Obviously, if Jamal doesn't opt out, we'd lose 5 mil of our capspace. I'm glad they took my advice and found a team that would give us a pick for G. And even better that they were foolish enough to give us a lottery pick.

He realizes he'll probably have to sign Nic before he can sign other FA's, as Nic could easily sign an offer sheet from another team right out the gate, which would eat into the Blazers' cap room. Just to be safe you can add another $5M to Batum's cap hold to simulate his real number.

His assessment seems accurate

Isn't that exactly what a birds right caphold is for? I'm not exactly sure, but if we match a 10mil offer for Nic, will that immediately go into effect, and eat our capspace?

Looking at the UFA list I realized that this years crop sucks more than gravity.

The cream of the crop are RFA's.

There are a lot of decent Role Players but they are basically the ones you find every year. Lots of good RFA, have to overpay for them which doesnt' excite me to much though.
