interesting, since Neil and woj seem to have a good relationship. Unprotected 1st next year, maybe a little something else, and he's yours

Why do you feel the man is worthy of compensation?

Just let him walk. I really hope this happens.

I'm still wondering who people want instead of Olshey?

Anyone wanna take a stab at that one?

I don't see it...the revolving door of Knicks office positions.....really, would you work for Dolan when you could work for Paul Allen? So many New Yorkers move to Oregon and some I know personally that grew up there have zero desire to move back, let alone raise kids there. If he wanted to cash in once and keep his fingers crossed, he might....I read they're talkin' to Isiah Thomas again and Masai Ujiri

That's tough for fans to answer. There's a lot of people who could do a very good job that you've never heard of. I'm ok with having a 1st timer. They need to be great talent evaluators

If, and I don't want him gone, but if Olshey moved on I would want Danny Ainge....went to South Eugene High School...a GM I really admire

I don't want him gone by any means, but for a unprotected 1st, I'd strongly consider.
Then id throw 30+ million a year at popovich to coach/ President ala rivers.

I think an awful lot of you are overlooking the Paul Allen factor in the moves Olshey made last summer. Rewind to the second round exit against the Warriors in 2016 and remember how that team had overachieved and the emotional appearance Paul Allen made after they were eliminated. I don't have any proof, but I think that the direction to spend money and keep that team together came from the top down. PA didn't want to lose Crabbe or any other pieces to free agency. I think there was a general feeling that the team was on the brink of being really good and that most of the young guys still had room to grow. Olshey was told that spending money on free agents was not a problem. It turned out that Turner was the best FA that Olshey could get to sign here out of a pretty limited crop that summer. Leonard's shoulder injury took him out of the playoffs and may have bought him a new contract so the Blazers could see what he could do once he healed.

In hindsight, none of last summer's signings really produced immediate dividends. Turner struggled to pick up Stotts' offense and then was injured at a critical point in the season just as it seemed he was beginning to find his place. Harkless and Crabbe both failed to show the improvement that had been expected when they got their new contracts. Leonard seemed even more useless as he tried to come back from his surgery, lost his confidence, and never really got untracked. The question is whether any of these guys will ultimately prove their worth and become valuable players or trade assets. The majority on this board seem to have given up on them and are blaming Olshey. I'm not sure that either position is as clear cut as some seem to want to make it. Olshey executed the plan as the boss wanted it played. Turner, Crabbe and Harkless are likely to have better seasons this year. Leonard? Well I'm not holding my breath there.

That's not likely to happen. Popovich is under contract through 2018-19 and is widely expected to retire after that.

Who do you want instead?

Someone that is capable of fulfilling and handling every aspect of the job description.

He may have a keen eye for late round talent. This DOESNT mean that he can structure, broker and sell big time trade ideas to other general managers. It DOESNT mean that he can take this market that he finds a challenge and sell it to big time free agents. Something he needed to do with one of his many rebuilding ideas he's had in the last five years. How about being fiscal responsible with the roster while maintaining a winning roster.

Bottom line, someone that can actually do the job. They are out there and they deserve the opportunity.

Getting the throne cleaned, I see.

Eh?

Eh?

I was looking for specifics. So just not NO...

Then name them... that's what Dviss wanted.

I don't follow the game like I used to so it's a difficult question to answer. I have to believe there must be a talent out there with something to prove that can be had. The bottom line in my opinion is this General Manager is not getting it done and he should be replaced and have the opportunity given to someone else.

Well, you answered it then. Well done.

There were people on this board that were clamoring for Nurk. If people on the board were clamoring for him, you don't think Olshey knew who he was and what he could do?

I don't buy that at all.
I don't remember anyone clamoring for Nurk, or even really being excited about getting him. From what I remember the reaction to the trade was relief that we'd get the 1st round pick back that we spent to get Plumlee. Nurk was going to be a big body that wasn't Meyers Leonard. Whoever was clamoring for him should get an award.

@Scalma was all over Nurk and Jokic in a possible trade.
