How much longer does coach Stotts get?

Alright, fair enough.

I guess I don't see Meyers as the weakling that everyone else does. I mean, not too many weaklings can piss off and shut down Cousins without breaking a sweat. I just think the dude is uncoordinated. Grossly uncoordinated. And I think that if he had a designated coach who focused on his muscle mass and ball control in the paint, not to mention Defense, he'd be far better than he is now; if not a Star.
True. I feel like he has gotten slower as time goes by. I remember when he was actually pretty fast and seemed athletic, had fastbreak dunks. Then he turned into a stretch 4. It's not that I think he's physically weak, he mentally is and it's shown. He talks a big talk but when it comes down to it, he's not making shots and being this leader he talked about after LA left. Sure, he seems to step up against bigger physical centers but other than that where can we say he has improved really or really been any good for this team?

Man three years ago we won 30 games before losing 9. Two years ago, midway thru the season, Terry had a top 10 defense with a top 5 offense.

This is a personnel issue. until guys tune him out, you keep him there. Easy to make him the scapegoat with this flawed roster.

So design a defense that fit your team you don't keep the same scheme that fits different type of team. Coaches has to adjust to there personal what schemes to use and Stotts haven't done that this year.

The blazers' clunky roster isn't Stotts' fault. Olshey needs to work some magic and upgrade and balance out this roster, or it won't matter who is coaching it.

Stotts aint the issue, he needs a team thats worth a damn. ... Lookin at you NO, you fucking used car salesman.

Meyers simply doesn't look like a natural basketball player. He still looks like a guy from another sport trying to play basketball (like Connoughton).

Crazy how a coach can go from runner up for coach of the year ( many said he should have won it nationally) to not very good and should be let go in less than a year?

I see Stotts trying different things. For example, he is now starting Davis and we have won the rebound battle three ouf of the last four and Cleveland only won it by what... 2 rebounds?

some people around here are worse than instant media.
Things take time. Teams don't get microwaved like meals....

Good at offense, bad at defense....nice guy.
Stotts, Helfrich....or both?

The roster isn't Stotts's fault but players closing out with their hands down on a player who can't dribble like Love is a Stotts issue, not on Neil. Their defensive style is just very passive, stagnant and predictable over all and that isn't on Neil either. Neil isn't without blame for this over duplicated roster with too many guards/wings and not a single big who has a low-post move.

Then again, even if he had that, (Vonleh actually has some post moves) would we ever see it used? Look at the offense. 90% of passes/hand-offs take place 25' from the basket. That does not breed toughness on any level. The defense is a passive, sit back, don't blitz, don't trap defense that breeds more passiveness.

WWPD? (What would Pop do?)

I think George Karl got fired in Denver after winning coach of the year....didn't look it up but I seem to remember it happening

Terry deserves some of the blame but.... Im just so disappointed in Neil man, fuck I was on the bandwagon with him, thought we FINALLY had a good front office. His seat needs to be pretty warm with the salaries he's doled out and how terribly they have turned out. We need a blockbuster trade to shake things up or one of them is gone. I wouldnt put it past Neil to scapegoat Terry by the end of the season either just to save his own ass.

I don't think Neil would fire Terry ever....I think he is on the phone trying to save his own job and fully expect us to be active at the trade deadline

This group is more talented than they are currently playing. We saw that last season. Terrys system is just not cutting it: Dame has to work so damn hard in this system.
Where are the easy buckets? Where's the transition play? Where's the defense? Got a promising big - park him outside and bomb threes.

There was a chance to get an authoritarian, defensive coach, with Thibs being available. Could have molded this young group nicely, and instilled some discipline and accountability for performance.

The Crabbe signing was the move that had me flabbergasted. It not only is bad financially - but it sets a bad tone for the rest of the team.
They rewarded a loafing, mediocre bench player - so what is the incentive for guys to perform at their absolute max - they'll get paid anyway!
Which brings us to the biggest problem - Guaranteed contracts. The NBA needs to fix this ASAP. The level of professionalism is suffering because of it. . .

I'm wondering what the reprocussions will be if this team misses the playoffs this year. It looks like there is a fairly good chance of that happening.

@Tunchi spends the off season like this.

I'll say this...Pops might be a great coach but in 31 minutes tonight Lamarcus had 10pts 4 boards and 4 assists....all of our bigs put up better numbers for a fraction of the price.

You think we are a shoe in for the playoffs? We're playing .500 ball, and that is usually not good enough in the West. IN fact, last year was the first time in 10 years that 44 wins was enough to get into the playoffs in the West.

Looks like Aminu is more important to the team's success than it would appear on the surface.

He was counted on to be our starting PF, and he is our best defender.

also a really good reason why I never buy a second hand computer from a male humanoid

Speaking only for myself........I wouldn't sell my mouse and keyboard with my computer. I couldn't do that in good conscience.
