How much will Webster demand?

It's been said a few times here that they would love for him to come back to Portland. I just read an article about Webster's improved driving to the basket. He's gained the confidence and becoming the talent that most thought he had in him. The reason why he would be a decent option is two things. He is a 2/3 combo player. If we could retain Maynor and grabbed Webster; we would have two very capable combo options coming off the bench.

He has really turned it on lately. A couple of 30 points games even I believe.

I don't think so because what he makes now isn't the actual value of him as a player. It would be the same as Lillard only making his rookie contract. He's earned a pay raise and 4-5 million is right around the ball park, IMO.

Oh I certainly agree he earned a raise. By a little less I mean if he really wanted to be on a specific team then perhaps he takes 3.5. Still double what he made. I think he liked his time with us overall but remember SEA might have a team next year. I bet a lot of local boys want to go there.

I don't see that happening but if he does get that much then OJ Mayo gets 9 MIL a year and JR Smith gets 8 MIL a year.

Let's look at it in a different perspective. If the cap is $60 million; then the max contracts will be 15 mil.

If Webster gets 6 mil per; that's 10% of the cap space. Teams having similar players, playing his type of role were paying around 4-5 million. I just don't see much justification of paying Webster anything more than that.

I thought I heard on a broadcast that he lives in Portland during the offseason. I think he's attainable for a moderate contract. Probably very tradable too if (big if!) his health holds up. The last three summers he's been at Club Sport in Tualatin quite a bit, I've played pickup games with him there, so he must have a house here.

He's 3rd in the league this year, less than 1% behind Korver and Steph Curry.

We run these guys out of town (just a figure of speech and some more than others of course) and then they do really well for other teams in time. So the question is was it just time they needed or a different environment? Would they have eventually had it click as well here had they stayed or did they need a new ear?

His price range is going to be $2M to $6M (MLE) at the max. He's not proven he's worth more by playing at a high level for more than a few games at a time - EVER.
I wouldn't mind re-signing him to pair with Maynor as a b/u guard. I wouldn't want this team to pay more than $3M for him. Otherwise, Elliot Williams is still a great solution for us at <$3M.
But, I'm not sure whether he wants to start or not. His latest surge and good play have been with steady minutes playing for rebuilding Wizards. Does he want to do same as backup player?

Crawford, Felton (can't believe I just listed him), Camby, Kurt Thomas, and the Rhino come to mind from just last year. Channing Frye, for sure. Rudy and Sergio, perhaps.

I will agree with Crawford and Frye (at times) but the rest are either even or not worth mentioning. Felton has been better but I knew last year he could be this good and for the last 3rd of the season he was this good with us. By that point it didn't matter.

Rudy I would take back for our bench gunner but I think his game is better suited for overseas.

Maybe. But I also think that many posters on this board fail to realize that young players who are willing to work hard, tend to get better until they reach their prime. How many times have we read a post that said "he will be out of the league in 2 years". I know it was said about Martel.

Nate may have not been good at developing young talent, but I doubt that he stunted it. There is a big difference IMO.

While our bench is atrocious, we look around the league and see many good players that we shipped off. Jack, Webster, Asik, Cunningham, Bayless..... If only that were our bench!
