so I’m starting this thread unconnected to a specific person so we can uncouple the response from ones political leanings, likes or dislikes.

So O’Reilly or Lauer, R or D politicians, how should the accusations be handled?

I’m very nervous about some Neil-McCarthy style system where just an accusation can ruin someone, but I’m also not comfortable not giving adequate weight to the victims accusation, especially in situations where there are multiple credible accusers.

Any thoughts?

I say everyone from mayor up burns at the stake and we do a hard reset. Guilty by association. None of these cock suckers are spotless.

I really don't know what O'Riley or Lauer actually did.

I think what we're seeing is how fucked our society has been for a very long time when it comes to people in power. The entertainment industry is especially bad because these people have power, and they use that power to take advantage of people under them. But why didn't these allegations come out earlier? It's not like we haven't had a ton of sexual harassment issues come up in the past 20+ years. It's mandatory training at my work. I think it's something that has been overlooked for a long time because these men had power, and the people they're abusing are letting it happen because they don't want to ruin their career. The casting couch has been around for a very long time.

Make me in charge of these decisions.

Moore... GONE
Weinstein...GONE
Al Franken...keep your job if you want with an extra dose of public humiliation.

It's easy for me. I'm very good at grey areas.

Make it me and SlyPokerDog and every vote has to be 100 percent or no action taken.

Seriously though, this is going to be brutally unfair if people who work for liberal companies did the same thing as say a Fox News guy. Life ain't fair so fuckem.

Lauer and O'reilly both got the same punishment from 2 different Networks. I'd say since NBC was recently bought by Comcast that they have a more corporatist view.

We don't know that they weren't covering for Lauer and had to do this when the shit hit the fan.

Meh, I don't buy it. When you report sexual harassment, HR does a thorough investigation so they don't get sued. Lauer has lawyers. This investigation has been taking some time I think.

On a case by case basis.

One thing I refuse to do is link Louis C.K. in with any of these guys. Politicians have been doing this shit, shit with kids etc. the pizza gate people tried telling you but you wrote them off as conspiracy theorists. Look where we are now. I’m not saying the whole idea of pizza gate was correct but the politician pedo shit is spot on

Big money covers up all kinds of shit. Not saying they are but I'm not surprised if they did.

They were written off as conspiracy theorists because that's what they were.

The fact that a bunch of guys are sexual offenders does not prove or even suggest any sort of conspiracy among pedophiles.

Roy Moore is a pedo, but he was hanging out at the mall, not in the imaginary basement of the pizza parlor with Hillary.

barfo

You gotta be kidding me. He literally did some of the same shit that Weinstein did...

Let North Korea blow their load on Hollywood. Solves multiple problems.

It’s not comparable at all. Weinstein didn’t ask for consent. Weinstein put these girls under contract and then had his team follow up with them. Louis C.K. while what he did wasn’t right asked for consent in all cases and then jerked off in front of girls. Didn’t physically touch them or anything. This was before he was a comedic superstar too

Uhhh that’s not what the pizza gate shit was about but alright. But yeah I would say it shows some truth with politicians and what has come out.

For the most part I agree, but the reason I asked the question is I want to know how people react before all the information is flushed out? So, for Roy Moore we have a bunch of accusers who mostly have similar stories. There were 30 corroborating interviews prior to the release of the story to make sure that these women told their stories well before now. So, there was lots of information with which to quickly discern that even if one or two of the accusations were lies or overblown, enough was still there that he is a piece of shit. Same with Weinstein. But, what about the stories of people who we find out they settled some lawsuit but we have no idea what that suit really was? or What about Al Franken who the accusation was a lesser offense? What about the next accusation? There were women who falsely claimed sexual molestation stories regarding Roy Moore to MSNBC and the WAPO but those were not reported because the news agencies flushed out that they were actually BS stories being done by Roy Moore supporters as a means to discredit the other stories. Some of those crackpots will get through.

I think we as a nation need to step back a little bit and not jump to the side of the accuser or the accused so quickly but instead wait and see what follow-uo stories come. We don't need to wait till litigation to make up our minds, but we should wait for a few days in almost all cases to give the news agencies due diligence to elucidate any falsehoods or truths that need to be sussed out.

I’m also kinda on this side. I feel like if it’s multiple women, the accused man probably has some bad odds. However I don’t want this to get to the point where men are just automatically labeled creeps or rapists when one woman comes along with no evidence and just a statement. There are plenty of cases where innocent guys have gotten fucked over that type of issue. Unfortunately people do this all the time. All the facts don’t come out but people just believe it and I don’t understand it
