It’s become an almost foregone conclusion that Stromile Swift will be sent elsewhere, either before the season begins … or at the trade deadline, assuming the Nets would want to take on a longer-term contract in return. But what if Swift doesn’t get moved, that there is little or no interest, as has been reported. What value does he hold for New Jersey this season? Not an easy question to answer.

he's an expiring contract, thats it. It's going to be up in the air to see what he's worth...who knows what teams are going to go into cost cutting mode at the trade deadline. Worst case is he just goes off the books next year and gives the Nets a little room to work with.

Actually I think that's the best scenario. Unless a superstar comes along, I would just let Swift expire this year, and Simmons + Hassell next year. There's nothing wrong with it.

I think he can be good if he gets minutes and tries hard but he wont, his whole career he's been a bust and thats not about to change. He's a good expiring that may get us another player. I hope we trade him for someone like Memphis for maybe a Trenton Hassell and Sto for Darko. That would good and free up a roster spot along the way.

In order for that to happen^ he would have to completely change his mentality for next year. But how can you expect him to change now while he hasnt done it in 9 years is it?

like is said he won't be good but we may get something valuable and defense and size at the center position.

The difference between Jeff McInnis and Stromile Swift is that McInnis was a cancer and Swift isn't assertive enough to be a cancer.

Besides his potential (how many years has he been in the league?), why do people like this guy? The only positive he has going for him right now is that he comes off the Nets books.

hes an expiring contract... of like 6 million rite? thats good :)

Hey, it is time for every one of the posters in here to be HONEST!!!!!!!

The Swiftie for Collins trade MAY HAVE BEEN the worst trade of the Rod Thorn Era (error).

That wouldn't be too hard, since he's known for making great trades. You're not saying too much.

Really? I think if he had the minutes collins did he would have done better.

Like the Deke trade, that cost the Nets a THIRTY MILLION DOLLAR BUYOUT?

Deke should never have been bought out. He could have contributed plenty to the Nets, but Scott was a moron that couldn't figure out how to use him

Here, we are in ABSOLUTE agreement.

But, Thorn is supposed to know what his coach will do with a player.

Thorn made same mistake with the Magloire signing, to say nothing of the Jeff McGinnis signing.

That trade was a toss up. As much as I love Twin, Frank might have gone back to his old ways and given Twin more PT. The young bigs needed his minutes to develop.

Frank is an f'en chameleon. He doesnt know what system he is going to use. One year is run and gun. Next is half court. The next give RJ more plays. No it is drive and dish.

swift reminds me of chris morris. great potential that never paned out and terrible bb iq
