Leave it alone and fix it in the summer?

Try to change the lineup? (what would you change)

Make a trade?

The bench has six points tonight. Something has to change.

I don't think it can be done this season, other than maybe getting a veteran big who can get a few easy points.

Mo Williams is erratic, but he's by far the best bench player. Next game, when Stotts puts in McCollum, I'd like to see him run a lot of plays for CJ right away to get an open shot. Webster was abusing CJ tonight, and if CJ isn't going to make shots, there is no reason to play him.

Maybe put Claver in place of CJ next game? The bench needs a huge spark, and I don't know how they'll find it.

I know Robinson has been around a lot of teams in his short time... but we gotta try to trade him and Williams for something. We're 21 games over .500... we HAVE to do something. Because as currently constructed, we are not good at all.

I want to see Earl and Crabbe in the rotation just once. I want to see if there's any difference in how the team plays with a real point guard coming into the game instead of Mo.

Play Earl, Crabbe, Robinson, and Freeland.

I know McGowan was with PA last night at the super bowl. Hopefully he waited until PA got drunk and he stole his checkbook.

Tell Mo he's benched for the next game if he dribbles the ball for more than 20 seconds of any possession. My god man, shit or get off the pot! STOP FUCKIN DRIBBLING.

We switch Mo for Dre, and we've got a contributing bench. That unit desperately needs a guy who can set up the offense and run the show, not a chucking ball hog.

You can't trade away Mo Williams without getting a guy who can score in return.

This game wasn't lost because of the bench, we held our own, the starters lost it, specifically Batum playing injured,

Mo reminds me so much of Damon Stoudamire..... that's not a good thing.

So when that team gets torched, then what?

Mo reminds me of a Crawful-Felton combo. A dribbling chucker who commits stupid turnovers and plays shit D. That's an AWFUL thing

Mo is either good, or really really bad. Usually it's the latter, and Stotts will leave him in anyways because hey....why not?

Freeland is awful. He makes a couple of nice plays on defense, and hustles for offensive rebounds. Other than that....he's Przybilla bad on offense. Seriously, outside of Przy, I haven't seen a big with worse hands. Also awful on the defensive boards. Not really anything he can do about it, he's just too short.

TRob and CJ make some good plays, but are generally negative. They're young though, so I don't hold anything against them.

Maybe it's time to try Dorell again?

Bullshit, you're blaming anything on Mo like it's automatic, Mo should get more minutes, We need to have Batum rest a few games, even weeks, and come back healthy, You're worried we can't replace him but we played our best ball and our best defense with Mo instead of him in the lineup.

I don't think you guys understand what's going on.... you look at our starters and say we lost because they turned the ball over. I look at our starters and I see five guys who are being asked to carry the team for 90% of the scoring load. That takes a lot out of them. They're tired. We scored 90 points tonight, and only 6 of that was from the bench. You can't ask your starters to score 93.3% of your points. They're going to get worn out, and we're starting to see the effects of that. Our guys are sluggish, they're making bad decisions, our defense is getting progressively worse every game.

We need a bench. LA played 42 minutes tonight. We can't count on our bench to do anything.

I'm telling you if you want to get anywhere this season, you rest one of your top 3 players in February if he doesn't feel good, We should have done it in January but Portland management seems to be made out of wussies.

:smiley-eek2:

Remember when we played Brandon through injuries, remember how that turned out? we played 4 on 5 for a lot of games and Brandon lost his career.

Why? What is your definition of "a guy who can score"?

It certainly isn't Mo Williams. 9 ppg per game (13 per 36) on 11 PER and sub 40% shooting. Uh-may-zing.

Trob and Leonard for Hawes would be something I would like to see Neil try to do

Who said the starters don't want to score? Who said they're tired? Lots of great players play big minutes. Bench wasn't good tonight but they weren't the problem. It was first half defense and turnovers. I do like PapaG's idea of running plays for CJ. Get him some confidence.

I think our starters are already spent. They need a break.

Neil said last year that he wished he would have fixed the bench to help support the starters. I hope he follows his own advice before the trade deadline.

@BenGolliver: Over the last three games, Blazers bench has combined for 23 points in 178 minutes

Yeah... they are holding their own.

Eric do you understand how unbelievably horrible 6 points from the bench is?

Washington got 26 points from their bench.

You guys are talking about turnovers, but their bench outscored our bench by 20 points. That's insane.

Bring in some dudes off of the street and trade the whole bench, it'd be an improvement.

Mo wasn 't our problem in this game. you want to blame the bench? what did McCollum, Robinson contributed lately, you say it's on Mo - newsflash, they're not that good. Our bench is not perfect in terms of playing with each other, it will get better, but it's not really playing 5, then 2nd five, we're gonna start shuffling our lineups, giving minutes for guys like CJ, Robinson only to rest the starters, I think we should get creative in what types of lineups we're playing out of our rop 8, I think we need to rest Nico, bring him back healthy in three weeks, bring him back hungry also. In the meantime have the other players do some defense, they're too used to watching Batum do it one on 5, there's a lot to win from this but first of all we need to agree we're not letting injured players play, especially if they're essential to our success.
