It's looking like this is going to land this week. Could be a big one. I hope Biden has a fresh sharpie.

But seriously, stay safe @theprunetang
I have stocked up on water, candles, food, and a case of black Sharpies for last minute redirection. Also, weed vape cartridges. Haha

Houses in Florida should all be made like concrete and rebar igloos......thick walls...no corners....raised floors....this wooden house shit just will never work there. Hope you Floridians stay safe and sound! With enough vape pens you can withstand anything!

A lot of houses on the coast are made of cinder block, which actually works pretty well. The old brick buildings and wooden construction needs to go though.

I worked Charlie & Francis, devastation was unreal. Apart of a storm team working on generator sets and such.
We often would stay at the Holiday Inn in Punta Gorda and that town was hit really hard.

Well, I'm glad I didn't book a trip to the Miami/Keys for this Saturday like I was planning to lol

Isn't it hitting right where you are at?

Looks like there is a chance it could be heading right for us. Guess we will see. Luckily we are a bit inland and not directly on the coast.

Maybe it will change course and head straight for Mar A Lago.

I'm sure most are getting tf out of Dodge at this point. Tampa is gonna probably get pounded hard and they haven't had a serious one hit them direct in 100 years or something like that.

I remember once visiting my best friend's aunt in Jacksonville, she lived in the straight up hood. She was telling us how she sat in her living room, riding one out. I forget which storm it was. No power for a few days but she had her 9mm right next to her waiting for someone to walk in trying to loot. That lady was a bad ass but FUCK THAT. I wouldn't want to die for some crackhead to come in looking to steal an anolog TV.

Maybe? There is still some east/west lateral movement possible. But, we are about 30 miles from the coastline, so we at least won't get any storm surge effects (which is often times the worst part). Historically, Tallahassee ends up dealing with localized flooding (we are on an incline thankfully), and downed trees causing power outages. One of the big pluses of having old growth oak canopy roads is also one of the big negatives.

Hopefully it weakens before hitting land

It's going to weaken but it is also going to stall. Lots of rain, news is forecasting 34 inches of rain in Tampa, on top of an excessive storm surge due to the direction of the storm.

Still knocking on wood, but it is looking like Ian is going to be missing us here in Tallahassee. Tampa area better brace for the worst.

Remembering Hurricane Michael, which was certainly no fun. Praying for all residents in the Florida panhandle --- including ourselves,

One day one of these news reporters in the storm is gonna die live on tv when something flies in their face. Why do we need them out there?
Leave the dare-deviling to the dare devils. Why isn’t anyone strapping themselves to a gigantic umbrella during a tornado?

Worlds first!

You see that dude who built that ghetto assed fan airplane and was like 10k feet up…

This Hurricane is similar to Charlie in 04, but seems bigger. I was down there during Charlie and Francis as part of a Emergency Storm Team and I can tell ya its going to take a while for things to get back to normal.
The US Army & NG and teams of semi's have been standing by to go in after it settles down. They will be armed to the hilt because of looting and people wanting to go where they shouldn't be.
Price gouging was huge when I was down there and they tried to get the road peddlers to move to designated areas but it didn't help much.
People really poll together down there to help out and rebuild.
I think overall its a small % that try and loot or rip people off.
