I believe that, saw video on I-75 in this area and that highway was packed. . I told the squeeze that if we have to leave to hell with the interstate. I'd get on Florida 19 north to Chiefland then 98 to the Pensacola area. I'd be willing to bet with even the predicted path I-95 will be packed as well.

...most of the hotels along I-75 all the way to Atlanta are already full...I'm about 45 miles south of Macon and I just crossed I-75 and as I looked northward the Northbound lane was already bumper to bumper.

Hope you guys have enough Gas to get the Hell out of there.

As predicted the storm has shifted and will most likely travel up the eastern seaboard of Florida. Yhe size of the storm puts the West Coast of Florida on the outer fringes which most likely means we'll see Tropical Storm Conditions. Right now Key West is getting the most stern evacuation attention. Per the Governor, 31,000 have gotten out and a hot line is provided for those having trouble doing so. Also heard that Georgia, and the Carolinas are initiating preparations.

...I'm not seeing the shift just yet ...according to TWC and other radars it's still going WSW.

...yeah, I'd imagine I-95 and I-10 will be backed up.

...told Mom to come on up and use the backroads and take as many rest stops as needed...probably will take her at least 7 hours for a trip that I usually make in 4 1/2 hours.

59- how much rain are y'all expecting in your area?? I know your inland, but still can't help but think of what's coming close to your way, hope this works out.

YF-5545 Have you and your Lady decided if your going to sit this one out??? If so I wish you well and safety too....

I've never in my life seen construction of homes in F-L-A, as I saw there in 98 in Melbourne, when my bosss flew me out to the NG facility; and I stayed with his family thru Hurricane Irene. He showed me how the newer construction laws had instituted rebarb (mandatory for new built bldgs) of roofs to sidwall frames, and of course slab/foundations, walls to floors.

He had 3 kids w/families, who came from other areas of FLA to sit out H-Irene. I had other work buddies who lived within 3 miles of him, in fairly new residential shit brick house tracts. My buddies roofs were blown off like thatched roofs, as they hunkered down in the closets; while my bosses house never sustained any damage to speak of; but a fallen few tree branches (away from the house), ntm- window shutters were a blessing too...

Stay Safe both of you....

Road Trip....!!! to YS, take the tents or RV's and park it on the lawn in YS.....on the lawn....lol.

Right now, we're only forecast to get a couple of inches but that could change

Hope for y'alls sake it stays east, the way some park over areas, like Harvey & others is mind boggling. I'm hearing, seeing WSW also, just hoping it doesn't head to far west or into the Gulf. It's be nice but unlikely if Irma could take a sharp veer right back out to sea, but we know that's not gonna' happen....

I recall I-75 too well, had to cross over it daily to n fro to work in Perry. Geezus I-75 can be as heavy laden with traffic as an LA freeway; and from the aerial views I'm seeing they look not much different, other than those heading north back there s/b a 1,000 mile line by tomorrow. Hopefully it'll clear as people find places to land, yet its unlikely and seems some are out on those Interstates too late, too little, then get stranded in Hell....to say the least...! Stay safe guys...

in other news, ring of fire active, 8.2 hit off coast in mexico. means a highly likely 8+ elsewhere on the ring in the near future if the pattern holds. of course I'm rooting for the san andreas to finally rip just to see jerry brown coming begging to trump for help.

If a hurricane came up the Gulf of Mexico and made a dead right turn and hit this shit city. So if that storm decides to get into the Gulf that's when I exit without being told to. Bac in '04 Charie got into the Gulf. , made a sudden turn and crossed the state. We got Tropical Storm Winds here in St Pete. Hurricane Season or no I've see Thunderstorms here that can do a lot of damage especially if you get hail. There area evacuation orders posted in this area for those on the beach, high rises, and mobile homes. These rest of us considered OK. Yeah local weather changed their shift theory showing more Spaghetti plots than Mama Leones. Went to see if I could get water, an employee was standing outside telling those approaching "no water folks" I yelled out "do you have beer' and the guy said yes. I said "hell we're OK and some people got a chuckle out of it. All we can do is what we can do bottom line.

Glad you guys still have a sense of humor, I would of asked for some Tequila.

Speaking of Humor here's a little "Black Humor" Ditty recorded by the Kingston Trio in 1963 called "The Merry Minuet". I think it was written by Shel Silverstein and is more applicable to todays time.

They're rioting in Africa, they're starving sin Spain,
There's hurricanes in Florida, and Texas needs rain.
The whole world is festering with unhappy souls,
The French hate the Germans, the Germans hate the Poles,
Italians hate Yugoslavs, South Africans hate the Dutch,,
And I don't like anybody very much.

But we can be thankful and tranquil and proud,
That man's been endowed with a mushroom shaped cloud.
And we know for certain on some lovely day,
Some fool will touch the spark off, and we will all be blown away.

They're rioting in Africa, there's strife in Iran,
What nature doesn't do to us, will be doneby our fellow man.

Damn.... Cantore has a major hard on this morning. Gotta love The Weather Channel.

boy did MX City ever dodge a bullet today.... that could of made Harvey look like a drizzler of a National catastrophe.... wtf's- with this time of year, Jung's synchronicity at its worst???

...as of now, it's going right where I told Annie yesterday where it was going to go. (late northward turn, almost a direct hit on the Key West, re-strengthen in the warmer waters (between a Cat 4 and 5), run along the west coast of Fla, and soak the shit out of us here in Ga.)

Here in Pinellas County advisory evacuations are suggested for those living west of US 19 North. . The storm projection via local weather is if this happens then that will happen yada, yada. Squeeze, Beagle and myself are well provisioned, if evacuation pops up we can handle that as well. I've gone through these things in South Carolina, New Jersey, and the Typhoons and monsoons in the far east. No one wants the but in Florida it's part of the lifestyle for all that nice weather. And as the old Chuck Berry songs goes "you can never tell"
We had a pretty bad Caine headed this way in'04 that made a sudden left and crossed to the Atlantic. If we decide to leave the area I figure we have until 8 am tomorrow to make that decision. That being said the watch & wait goes on.

Just saw video on Key West where winds are at Trop Storm Level. There are a few who elected to stay reminding me of the thin line between bravery and stupidity. Never Been to Key West, nor did I ever have the desire to go. I wish the best for those who elected to stay. At present in this county evacuations for about 260,000 people are in force. Thank God I live in the zone that is not affected by storm surge. Still finding the predictions to be on the maybe if side watching local reports.

...^^^ I'd lean towards the "stupidity" side...if Key West does in fact take a direct hit they'll wish they had left...they evidently have no idea of what this storm is capable of.

I heard Lionel Barrymore speak of the 'Caine that hit the Keys in 1935. Also saw photos of that storm. That should be more than enough to convince one to leave. Its a wonder there was a Key West to come back to after that one. Irma could be the pencil with the final eraser.

^^^hey man, it looks like it's headed toward the Tampa/St Pete area with winds estimated to be around 120+ mph...are you and your bride and your beagle still headed north or elsewhere?...hell, western Fla might not be a bad option.

Be safe Michael I'm trying to go back and forth with the Weather Channel and the Yankee Game.

My girl and I have decided to leave. As soon as she gets back we'll pack a few essentials and get the hell out of Dodge.

Wow from what I'm watching right now this is really bad.
