I actually think this guy is serious

There wasn't much reason to go to Lake Oswego for people that don't live in the area. Never really hit up that area other than play tennis at Mountaingate on occasion. there was also some fish market we used to go back in the day out there.

I pooped once in LO. I think it was a Wendy's, I'm not sure. The light was out on the drive-thru menu sign I was leaning against...

Lakeridge people always creeped me out for some reason.

A friend of mine used to live in an apartment complex in West Linn that had it's own indoor basketball court. I played there once and they told me not to come back because I played too physical. I guess my time growing up on the mean streets of SE Portland was too much for them. Fuckin' pussies.

Are there any well-maintained, high property value areas with low crime that you feel are not snobby? :dunno:

It wasn't a knock. It was an observation. Obviously, the snobby-ness was far less of a concern to me than other things, as I chose to live in West Linn.

I was simply surprised that someone felt LO wasn't snobby.

I think the "new money" types (who lived in the mcmansion neighborhoods) there brought the snobby vibe. The old rich money (i.e. lived near the lake, etc) seemed more chill.

Most of the "old money" is gone and given way to their offspring, which grew up with a heavy load of entitlement.

Was just gonna post that, my 44 year old buddy always called it that

Don't most live in Tualatin and the Pearl now? I know they used to be a few in Dunthorpe back in the day. Rod Strickland and Allah Abdelnabby used to live in my friend's neighborhood in Kruse Ridge or something.

We'll agree to disagree. Of course, I've only lived or have owned a house in LO since 1974, so what would I know?

actually didn't they call it Lake No-Negro when you were a "youth"?

Pretty much all of Portland is "no-negro". It's just about the whitest town in which I've ever lived. Even the black areas are white.

I am cute.

I appreciate you explaining all of that.

But still, if the local community of LO doesn't want a 5 story project I'm fine with that. Just like if the local community of NEP doesn't want a Trader Joe's I'm fine with that too.

First, I've seen photos of you. You're not cute.

Second, as with most real estate developments in mature areas, there is a story behind it.

Third, if a developer follows all the rules, then the community should have a very limited say, and only in extraordinary circumstances. Property owners have rights, too. Where I have a problem is an increase in the FAR without input from the citizenry. This was typical LO City Council bullshit deciding they know what's best, when what they really want is another plaque will all their names on it (just like Millennium Plaza).

Lots of Blazers have lived in Tualatin. Greg Oden, Joel Przybilla, Raef Lafrentz, Ruben Patterson, to name a few..

Oh and Channing Frye's wife went to Tualatin High. She's my friend's cousin so he see's Frye at some family events.

Like I said, says the "snob".

When most people feel that way, but you don't, I'll roll with the majority.

As I said before, not hating, it's just an observation. There's a level of snobby-ness there that isn't as prevalent in most other areas of the Metro Area.

Z-Bo and Miles lived in West Linn. Stoudamire's house off the 205 Stafford exit is still for sale (I pass it nearly everyday). Kersey used to live next to my friend, and Roy had a house in West Linn. Petrie, Walton, etc all had homes in Barrington Heights (WL).

Like anyone, I think it depends what they're looking for. But Portland, LO, West Linn, and Tualatin seem to be the only places I really ever see listed.
