Oh my Laker friends all tell me that Lillard is a baller. They said it was make up for picking Oden over Durant.

Can we win the lottery this year to make up for Roy then?

To be fair, though, one of their woes is Lillard. His DRtg is pretty bad.

Yep and having him play extended minutes should speed up the process of fixing that woe. Most rookies just don't get enough playing time to learn from their mistakes. Even the last couple games, his defense is getting better. Maybe in a uear or two; he can become a decent one, as long as the coaching staff puts focus on it.

And to be honest, I'm not worried much about his defense; his DRtg doesn't correlate to wins or losses. His ORtg, though, really does. So if that means we seek out a defensive backup PG, we could get the best out of the position holistically.

and he'll likely never be a "good" defender, but he should become decent which IMO is significantly better then where is is now.

Yep. If I'm Stotts, I just tell Dame to focus on running the team well (if he gets 8 assists or more, we win, though the 8 assists is more a symptom of streaky teammates being hot) and getting himself going offensively (Dame has never scored less than 20 when he gets 8+ assists); then I'd make sure Matthews guards the more offensively potent of the two guards.

It is when you watch them ACTUALLY play...That isn't conjecture...that is REALITY....

You know it is one thing to be all over Lillard's jock b\c the team needs a PG, I get that...or b\c he hit every shot in an edited one on none workout video or a highlight mix tape vs powerhouses like Texas-Arlington...fine...but then to push it to the next level and compare him in ANY way as a player...not in measurements, but as a player...to Westbrook and Rose is beyond ridiculous....

I get it...you got a man crush on the guy...not the 1st time you have done this, probably won't be the last....

Obviously I don't like the guy...I think he is being overhyped by a weak PG crop,, the lack of PG in POR, and his agent's shrewd move to work him out solo and protect him from being exposed in any workouts....

We won't know until he actually plays in the NBA who was more right than the other, I seriously hope POR does not take him, but if they do I'll hope he succeeds and becomes worthy of the #6 pick, b\c if he doesn't then POR just fucked themselves in the draft...AGAIN....

Sorry for the bump, but I'm wondering if you still feel the same way now about Lillard.

Terry Porter was an older shoot first small forward from a small school.

Okay, even I am laughing at that. Lillard ain't gonna be a Terry Porter.

I have to thank mags for bumping this.

Some of you guys said some outlandish things here.

No Lillard for me. This pick is almost as stupid as the Telfair pick.

Hahaha..how did I miss this thread before today? This is why I try not to make predictions on players, because I'd totally and absolutely miss the boat on everything I'd predict.

I think it's safe to say, at least in respect to this season, he was drafted below where he should've been.

Oh, I think he was drafted in the right spot. :)

What was so outlandish about me saying that Lillard wasn't going to be as good as Terry Porter? IMO TP was the greatest pg in Blazer history.

because in his rookie year, he's putting up #'s and stats close to that which TP did in his prime (outside of assists). Yeah, TP was good, but I don't think it's unrealistic to say that Lillard could end up being a lot better than TP.

This is a rebump of an already bumped, bump. Not many remember Blaze01's late night drunken tirade on here after that draft. He's pretty embarrassed and hasn't shown face since.

He wanted us to draft Marquis freakin Teague over Lillard.

I posted that on June 18th. Again, what was so outlandish of my thinking that Lillard wasn't going to be as good as the greatest pg in Blazer history before he ever played a NBA game?

Let's talk about unflappable: http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/l/lillada01/splits/2013/

Look at Damian's Home and Away splits. A lot of players, especially young players, do much better at home than on the road. (see Terry Porter's FG% in these splits as an example: http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/p/portete01/splits/1987/) Damian, however, shoots exactly as well on the road as at home, and his stats are basically the same. He's in the same mental headspace game to game, no matter where that game is.

Another interesting stat: he's better on the second game of a back to back than with 1 day rest. The small sample size and Friday's game probably skews this a bit, but it's good to point out.

And his month to months: excluding his one game in November, Damian's been improving steadily month to month. In fact, so far in January, his FG% has improved a lot too.

He takes the game very seriously, and you can see it in his steady improvement *despite* being scouted so heavily *and* nearing the "rookie wall".

don't go throwing logic and facts in my face! This is WAR!

Yep I missed the boat on Lillard. I wanted Drummond who I still think will be good though.

I think I wanted Lillard but I was I was afraid to say due to the Blazers draft jjnx. I'm so glad fate decided things on its own for once. We are certainly owed a couple good ones.

1. Old.
2. Small (unless he's a PG, and even then not very good size).
3. Shoot-first (bad for a PG, in my opinion).
4. Low level of competition.
5. Seems to be a pre-draft hype mirage. (Where would he have gone last year? What has changed?)
6. There are six prospects that I think are clearly better bets.

The team needs talent and they shouldn't be taking a player like Lillard at #6, I don't think.

Ed O.

So many people here were so wrong about Lillard it's hilarious. A chosen few seemed to have a personal vendetta against him.

I never posted in this thread, so I had to spend some time finding what I did say back before the draft. I had Lillard 4th on my big board.

So this is not like a mock because are not guessing where players end up, we are just listing the top 11 players. So if players a b d f g when our sixth pick comes, we j ust select player c because they are earliest on the big board.

Here is my big board (subject to change)
Ansthony Davis
Thomas Robinson
Beal
lillard
Drummond
MKG
Waiters
Sulinger
Meyers leonard
Barns
Rivers

Honerble mention-aren't moultire, lamb, Ross

I feel good about that.

i really hadnt scouted anyone, and wanted drummond...he reminded me of oden (in a good way) :(

I was so right about lillard. I kinda taught people here about him.

^
But even the ones that were wrong in this thread are right WAY more than any of the rubedorks that have posted here. You guys mostly come here, post stupid crap, get your asses handed to you, post cawk, then run away like little girls when you can't defend your position.

Go Blazers
