I Don't Get Why The Upcoming Tebow Spot Is So Controversial?

I don't mind a secondary education (which may be primary in cases where parents don't address it, but that's better than nothing IMO) from school on sex, its responsibilities and its possible pitfalls.

yeah, this raises a good point. Schools legally have to inform the parents if there is going to be sex education, I remember waivers being signed. Think of that as "Time to give my version of the sex talk before they do." Schools are pretty good about just grossing kids out with STIs. They very rarely talk about morals, so it shouldn't interfere at all with educating what is important to you.

IMO, yes it is, because they never know they were alive to die, if they are not self aware. It's the same logic behind pulling the plug on a "vegetable."

No it isn't. Most people in that state at some point made their own choice(s) about life, their friends and family and who would be responsible for their life down the road.

Additionally, there are many definitions of "self aware" that could be applied to newborns and older.

Using "self awareness" as the criteria for somebody's right to life is a bad idea.

:sigh: What it boils down to for me, is that the kid deserves a good life if he's going to be brought into it. I can't see how that is possible if the parents feel the need to have an abortion. I mean, what does that say about what the parents think of their own ability to provide? Will that mentality not translate to the kid?

I feel bad that there will be children brought into unfortunate lifestyles and tough situations. I wish the parents had been more responsible when they had the opportunity to make THAT choice. But our constitution never guarantees a person anything more than life, liberty and the pursuit.

It would be interesting to take a poll of people living the bad, tough lifestyle you are envisioning. I bet most would still rather be alive. Why shouldn't the aborted get that choice?

take a poll of their parents too.

I don't understand the question.

Didn't they have the choice to use protection and the pill?

So just to be clear, some kid has to have a shitty life because their parents were too naive to think they would actually have a child in high school by having sex just once or twice, or because they were drunk and didn't think about it. The sins of the father are visited upon the child. cool man.

edit: I don't know why I bother trying to change any of your minds on this. I just get mad and waste my time. Nothing I say to you conservatives makes a difference.

Ok, turning that around...

Do you think that every parent who might bring a child up with a "shitty" life should be prohibited from having children?

It's amazing to me that one can be so close-minded that they would get "mad" at a group of people that are in favor of giving everybody the right to life.

:dunno:

so your mind has been changed by something I have said?

So to get back to the original thread point, do you understand any of the reasons behind the controversy now?

I really don't see what the fuss is all about here. Nobody's even seen the commercial yet, so there's nothing specific to protest. If anything, the decision by CBS to air an advocacy ad at all might be questionable.

That's exactly what the fuss is all about.

As with political candidates, political viewpoints should have equal access.

CBS should have to make available equal time during the Stuporbowl for Pro-choice viewpoints.

does anything they say to you make a difference?

Raise your hand if you think you should have to get a license in order to breed.

I gave up trying a while back when simple questions and inconvenient relayed facts were avoided... I see you've been experiencing the same treatment. I came to the conclusion that they aren't confused about the controversy they just want to needle those that disagree with them for the umpteenth time on the decided issue of abortion.

Do the Tebow's hate Catholicism?

This whole thread answers the original question...obviously the commercial is controversial.

I don't think they are trying to antagonize. But I think, like everyone else, they have their mind made up for the most part on big issues such as these. Where there are no easy "Oh, well I guess god really does exist, he came on tv to show himself and answer every question exactly right and make dna dance like a snake charmer."
