I have a sinking feeling

I'm trying to decide if Binx is another version of Mixum.

There’s been a lot of excitement about the Carmelo Anthony signing in the last couple of days,
I don't think "excitement" quite captures it. Better choices:
Rage
Exasperation
Disbelief
Astonishment
Outrage
Incredulity
And finally: resignation.

The whole basketball world is excited. Everyone rooting for Melo and watching the Blazers.

Is this you, @Binx?

There’s been a lot of excitement about the Carmelo Anthony signing in the last couple of days, and I’ve been doing my best to get on board, but I have a queasy feeling in the pit of my stomach. Am I the only one?

Why hasn’t any other NBA team offered to give this guy a chance? There are some lousy teams out there, and yet none of them felt Anthony could help them. What does that tell you? And what about all these NBA players tweeting their joy over Anthony joining Portland? Why didn’t any of them try to get him on their team? In this age of player power and guys demanding to play with certain other players, why didn’t any of the NBA’s big stars demand that their team acquire Anthony?

I’ve seen some NBA analysts saying that Portland’s isolation offense could be a good fit for Anthony, but this seems weak to me, as if Portland is the only team in the league on which Anthony can thrive. It seems highly unlikely that Portland somehow holds the magic key to reviving Anthony’s career, and that no other NBA team does. It seems much more likely that Anthony has lost his shooting touch because he doesn’t have the same bounce in his legs anymore, and that he just can’t guard today’s younger and faster players.

All I know is, something doesn’t add up. Money does not fall from the sky, and All-Star forwards who can still be productive don’t sit around for a year and then fall into your lap. It just feels too good to be true.

I hope I’m wrong. I want Anthony to come into Portland and help turn the Blazers around. I want to see a rebirth of his career in Portland, and I’m praying that he helps us get a championship in the 50th year of the franchise. Nothing would make me happier, but I just have this sinking feeling.

Well, that's what I think but it'll only cost us a month or so to find out. I don't like the idea because even if he does turn out (to me by some miracle) to be "good" it seems like a short term fix given his age & that he was already going downhill.

Why does it matter if it doesn’t work?

In theory it would only cost us a month or however long it takes to assess him. But if he plays 15-20 minutes and Hezonja still plays and Little plays less as a result, it will be costing Little playing time and development. I'll be pissed if that happens.

There going be a lot pick and pop with Anthony and if he hitting then the other team going have to pick there poison. But they won't stop double Dame until Anthony start hitting that shot.

Come Blazer fans
Adorn yourself with
Rose-colored glasses
Mario sit down
Everyone watch me
Light it up
Or crash and burn

Not bashing, there are multiple other threads discussing this. Did you really think no one was talking about it?
I’m not a regular visitor on the site and I don’t like megathreads. If there are ten different threads on the same topic I couldn’t care less. I think it’s more interesting when people post whatever they want, wherever they want.

But you're asking for a discussion on Melo when it's all right there for you to read. There's the mega Melo thread and there's a new one from Thursday when the news broke.
