I just sent this email to the NBA

You just said YOU sent an email to the league, as if they have nothing else on their plates right now.

There's a pandemic going around, the NBA is the last thing we need to worry about coming back soon, or the Blazers "making the playoffs".
I agree with your fundamental point. At the same time, in times like these people need diversions, and to hang on to whatever normalcy they can in life. I feel pretty confident that every type of business, including the NBA, is more focused on how this impacts their business interests than any other issue, just as are the millions who are worried about losing their source of income.

I'm not saying the NBA should come back any time "soon". Hell, the NBA may very well be shut down, at least to fans attending live games, for a year or more. And I personally am at peace with that.

The NBA is going to continue thinking about the NBA. And so should its fans. If nothing else, for their mental health. (Yes, I know, "sports fan" "mental health" is an oxymoron ;) )

(Mind flashes to image of lifeless sports fans aimlessly roaming empty streets like zombies after the apocalypse.)

Just play the games on aircraft carriers, in international waters.

I'm trying to imagine what it looks like if there's no home court, no fans, we dont have 7 game series, nobody has played ball in months, everyone is worried of infecting each other, everyone mental state from hundreds of thousands of deaths in the US.

How would that even resemble an NBA championship?

I think they'll eventually just decide to cancel the season.

Maybe they do an end of season tournament, or honorary remembrance celebration.

There wont be a 2020 NBA playoff or 2020 NBA championship.

You are spending time posting on a Blazers message board. That is the last thing you need to worry about. As if you have nothing else on your plate now.

I'm not sure how people can compare commenting on a message board (which in itself isn't a big deal, but an exchange of ideas...where we all exchange ideas/banter/etc), and someone name dropping themselves in an email to a league that is dealing with a historic moment in the countries history...asking if they know when it will start up or what the latest is.

It'd be like finding out someone you've made plans with during the summer, has gotten sick and going over to their house and asking them what their plans are for this summer.

They have more important things to worry about.

Ranting and raving on a message board isn't even remotely the same.

But the NBA hasn't gotten sick. And they don't have more important. things to worry about. Everything they're worried about is to bring back the NBA for its fans.

Yes they do have more important things to worry about. For the love of pie...have some perspective man.

The NBA knows how to prioritize these things. They're not stopping work on critical duties to debate a fans email.

That email box probably gets tens of thousands of emails a day, it's nothing like going over to a sick individual in person while making insensitive remarks.

If Eric confronted someone on the team in person then you would have a point. But he didn't, he sent an email to the appropriate channel for such concerns.

That's exactly my point...

you're missing the point. It's called PERSPECTIVE. Him whinging about the season isn't really important when the NBA is dealing with other more important things than answering emails from fans.

I swear to god, this place at times...

The NBA is nothing without its fans. Of course they care what we think.
