What teams and players you think could net us; using freeland, Leonard, Barton and or claver?

I know none of them would be worth too much by themselves, but maybe a combo of two or three players could give us a decent rotation player?

Maybe Milwaukee would be interested in a sign and trade with dalembert for freeland and Leonard?

I'd just feel better if we got that good 2nd string center. It would make me feel a hell of a lot better about our rotation.

I'm all in favor of letting these little cupcakes bake. Claver and Freeland have the potential to be the type of role players that a team like the Spurs have gotten a lot of success from.

Ideally trading either Leonard or Joel along with either Crabbe or Barton for a true big man to back up Lopez makes sense. It is worth a shot.

I would really be torn with a trade that sent out claver because he's just a consistent "jump shot" away from really being a great role player. Sometimes you need to give up promise for a contributor now. That's the only reason why he's included in the mix.

Freeland maybe a role player some day, but I don't expect him to be one in the same time frame as Leonard. Leonard and freeland would be a good choice for a full rebuild team. One that can wait a bit for them to fully develop.

What if it was freeland, crabbe and Barton for a sign and trade Elton brand?

With all these players, I think we're currently at the floor in terms of respective trade value. It can't get any worse, but it certainly can improve. Wait for a bit to see how much better they get.

Brand already signed with ATL. He can't sign and trade after signing already. Personally I wouldn't trade Crabbe straight up for a guy like Brand.

Honestly, I think Leonard will get to a respectable nba level. I just don't think it's happening this season or next. 4th year in, like everyone was saying is a reasonable timeline. I don't know if I could wait that long having him our second rotation at center.

I think Aldridge will be our backup center with Robinson coming in as the low post PF. He'll play the same position (high post) offensively, he'll just guard the opposing center.

Freeland is 26. He can get better with a system that is suited for him, but I don't think he would be good trade bait for a rebuild team. I do think he can help our team with more consistent minutes, but we are talking 10-12 minutes a game. He needs to improve regardless. He needs his confidence back with his mid range jumper and then just continue to do the dirty work.

Yeah we would hate him. He can not move anymore. Horrible D

I think its about time to offer Crabbe, Freeland and barton to Milwaukee for a sign and trade Dalembert. We could use our remaining 1 mil + 3 mil for freeland and 900k for Barton for a 5 mil per (2 years guaranteed with a 3rd year team option) Dalembert.

That would give us a decent "stop gap" center that can be our 2nd rotation center and the ability to develop Leonard without sacrificing strength.

Why would Milwaukee do it? Well its pretty obvious they aren't resigning Dalembert and they can get some bodies to fill up the roster. They are over cap, so they only have 2.6 mil to offer another player. Right now they have a roster of 11.

I think your giving up on players to early. Giving away young talent for over the hill players should only happen if your in a dire need at that spot or at the trade deadline when your teams trying to make a run.
Since were in neither position I'd like to hold onto our assets until an fairly good player gets put on the block.

I don't know. a 5 mil per Dalembert isn't an over-priced contract. The dude was a 18 per and solid 10-15 minute contributor. Also, at a guaranteed 2 years, I think that's a good option as well. Crabbe, Freeland and Barton are hardly "young assets" that will be game changers, IMO.

Mags.... every team has two or three scrubs on their team. Those guys aren't worth much, if anything. Barton and Leonard are projects. Freeland's contract makes him almost impossible to trade.

Crabbe and barton are young assets not game changers, big difference. Freeland were going to be stuck with but his contract isnt so horrible that he is a huge liability to the franchise.
I don't see giving up two guys to go after a 10-15m big who is on the downside of his career a good move. Now if he wants to sign here for whatever we can give him then sure I'd take him.

I would rather trade Freeland and Mathews together and upgrade at SG.

You gotta be kidding me?!?!?!?!

Not sure that part is true actually (already being better that Matthews in his eyes). But I know he would trade for Lamb and include Matthews. He is a big fan of Ross from TOR as well.

That's gotta be the most idiotic idea on the planet. I'm down for trading Matthews, but there isn't a SG that I would trade him for that's even obtainable. I was looking more for a Matthews + Leonard for a higher quality Big. Even thats a stretch.

got a new name for U - GUMBY

I think we're reasonably solid in terms of a rotation (Lillard, McCollum, Matthews, Batum, Wright, Aldridge, Robinson, Lopez) We're not going to be an elite team this year. Let it bake and see what we have at the trade deadline or next offseason. We still have too many unknowns on this team. The good news is, we have the luxury of not being very good to find out what we have. Last year, Smith, Babbitt et. al. failed. Barton and Leonard lived to fight another day, but are on notice that they need to improve.

We're in a holding pattern right now with Aldridge. A future with him is very different than a future without him. We shouldn't make any important moves until we know what's happening with LA and what we can expect for him in return.

That's a fair statement and I can't disagree with it.

I made it as wishy-washy and milquetoast as possible. Basically, I'm too chicken to choose a path, so I'm looking for more time.

Well it's not really as wishy washy as you think. We really don't know how Lopez, Wright and Watson will help or hurt this ballclub. Also, maybe Leonard will click someway through this next season, especially since he would be a back up rotation player. CJ may get better looks, therefor his shooting % goes up. MAybe the addition has Aldridge in Beast mode and he averages 10+ boards a game to go along with his 20+ points? ALl sorts of shit could happen.
