I have never met more judgmental people than at the churches I've attended in the past.
If you wish to have a relationship with God, I don't think you have to go to church.
Odd, maybe you should find another church. The last two churches I've been apart of were some of the most loving and kindest people I've ever met, and I've made quite a few friends.I have never met more judgmental people than at the churches I've attended in the past.

I go every week unless I'm sick. I'm not sure how many other churches do this, but every function of the LDS (Mormon) congregation is handled by members of the congregation. For example, one of my brother's teaches Sunday School to the 12 and 13 year olds. Another brother works with 11 year old scouts. My mom is in charge of the children ages 3-12 for her congregation. My wife and I work with single people ages 18-30. It would be pretty tough for my mom to only go once a month with the "calling" (assignment) she has. So in the LDS church, you should pretty much expect to go every week. There are obviously those who don't, and they wouldn't typically be given assignments that would requirement them to be there every week, but hopefully you get the idea of what I'm saying.
