I like Canales a lot. Think he'll be a good coach.

Am I reading that right?

Yeah, I meant I agree with the move because we shouldn't be trying to win at all costs, we should be focused on developing our younger talent a little more at least
and preparing for next year. Canales will do that, Bickerstaff won't.

So I was reading that right. I understand your logic, but Bickerstaff has Bobcat re-tread stank all over his old underperforming career. I was in a meeting when I learned Nate was fired. I asked the guy that told me, "Please, for the love of god, tell me Bickerstaff isn't the interim." It gave me great optimism that the Blazers brass didn't put good 'ole Bernie in charge. Putting Canales in, regardless of history or pedigree, gave me hope that the Blazers have a broad view of the future.

So are you agreeing with me?

Regardless of his record, I don't even have to look it up to tell you Bickerstaff has hundreds of games of experience. It would be foolish to say he'd do worse than a video editor (or whatever the hell he did).

Elias Says Kaleb Canales is 1st in history to win head-coaching debut vs team w/ .800+ win pct, 40+ games into season.

It's an impossible argument. But your logic states that Bickerstaff would play the vets which would = more wins (this season) than Canales, who would play younger players which would = less wins (this season). I guess my question would be - what veterans would Bickerstaff play that Canales wouldn't play, and how would they equate to more wins?

I don't give a fuck how much experience Bickerstaff has. He's like a Lenny Wilkins to me. 1 Million wins, 2 Million losses.

We're not talking about a substantial win difference here. I just think B would be good for a couple extra wins in comparison. And guys like Felton, Crawford, Thomas would be taking a little more burn from Babbitt, Smith and company.

Surprised nobodoy has commented on this - it's actually a pretty ridiculous stat. Good find.

Wow that is impressive! People aren't noting that Chicago actually played great too. Up until the fourth quarter, they were shooting in the high 50% and pretty much bet us in every major statistical category. Even when the game was over, they still had us beat. We actually beat Chicago when Chicago was playing well.

Well working hard everyday instead of being a retired player or coaches son; having the job just handed to you gives you a very humbling person. He's gonna be a cheap coach, which will have more value then a marquee coach.

I'm not saying he's our coach of the future, but whomever takes him will get him cheap.

Was just up on treadmill in the gym and Kaleb was in there working out like always..... Still had a big smile on his face! Asked him how he slept, said he couldn't!

Nice pic of the St. Patrick's day river . . .

The difference between the effort and execution since Kaleb became the coach is like night and day.

Yes especially at the end of the Utah game. Felton was flawless. It was like a big round weight was lifted ..........and dribbled right off of his foot.

Speaking of better execution, what was our shooting percentage, before and after? It seems greatly improved.

Felton's just garbage. I have a feeling were going to be seeing a lot less of him.

Canales' team has scored 100 or more twice, while giving up over 100 six times in 11 games. With Nate, the Pace was 11th in the NBA. Under Canales, it's already down to 18th in just 11 games.

Nate's team gave up 100+ fourteen times in the first 43 games of the season, and scored over 100 fifteen times.

I guess I'm wondering all of this supposed "effort" is, because it hasn't been on the defensive end of the court, and the offense is not only less efficient, but it's at a slower pace than it was when Nate was around.

I think the loss of G Wallace has had a fairly big impact on the pace.

I really hope Canales finds a coaching gig soon after this season. He has shown great promise to our franchise with such a turmoil filled ending. He's a pretty positive guy; which will trickle down to the rest of the team.

Then why wasn't the Pace much faster last season when Wallace came over in the trade? It was slow all season long. Felton and Flynn are supposedly up-tempo PGs, and Canales has them playing a slowdown game.

Who gives a fuck about pace. Really.

Were giving guys like Babbitt, Smith and Flynn a role on the team and competing in every game. We took the Clippers to the wire in their house without Aldridge.

McMillan was getting blown out by 30 points on a regular basis and no one wanted to play for him.

I'm thinking Kaleb should be offered the Charlotte gig. He would have some leniency on win/loss and he can learn the head coaching ropes. I actually think he would do quite well there.
