Not being able to compete with GS and getting ran out of the playoffs in 4 games by the Pelicans are two completely different things. I didn’t think they were a shoe in for the 2nd round, but the final stretch of the season they lost to two teams not even trying, a 4 game losing streak, and then got punked by one of those teams they should’ve been competitive with. They’re like 1-15 in their last 16 playoff games too.

Okay first off you're contradicting yourself.
You say, not being able to compete with GSW. But then cite Portland's record against GSW in the playoffs as a negative in an attempt to make your point.

Portland is a middle of the pack team who could beat, and lose to anyone on any night.
Losing to the Pelicans 4-0 is unexpected, but not unrealistic.

Portland did not get punked by another middle of the pack team. Only one game was Portland not in it. 15 point leads come and go in the playoffs.

How does the last “few” seasons, make it sound like it’s just 4 games...? This one was especially bad because of the opponent, but it’s been a recurring theme, and like I said the GS thing I mean they beat everybody so, it didn’t bother me as much. They should’ve at least been competitive with the Pelicans though.
We have definitely seen the same rinse and repeat season now 3 times though overall they were better this year because they actually played defense but the important part is that all of that and it ended just like they were playing GS again...

You're right, I missed those words about other seasons. But the core problem appears in the first 2/3 of the season, before the All-star break. It's not just the season endings. Status quoers want to believe our desire for change is based upon small sample sets, just season endings instead of entire seasons. You reinforce their false beliefs.

At least a few of us feel, that NO in particular is too ok with the status quo, and doing the same thing year after year. If he wasn't he wouldn't always shoot down anyone who dares say there should be a change.

Maybe you should fix your expectations, since apparently all you're looking for is mediocre basketball every year. I haven't seen a single poster say the Blazers should beat GS this year, or that we should've beat the Pelicans, but they really weren't even competitive for most of that series, they made some runs to make the games appear close, but after game 1 it never felt like they were gonna win a single game.

While HoopsJock was a valuable adition, the return of Cup and Lanny caused some problems, as it was obvious from Day 1 that they were going to fight me for the drama torch. I could've either staved them off and kept it for myself, but instead, I felt charitable, and passed it along to Lanny and Cup. They've impressed me with their consistent effort to live up to and even surpass their predecessor. Me? I still enjoy a good razzing of others, but it's definitely a hobby now when it used to be a job. So I passed the torch to those most deserving. I have excellent replacements, who will be able to keep S2 drama-filled each an every day.

There's an "ignore thread" function on the top right of the page for anyone who doesn't want to add to the Olshey appreciation thread.....only one I can remember ever posted on the forum....we have many that support Gronk's view of Olshey....glad to see some optimism...and balance.
