Terrence Jones. Kid is the real deal, not just cause he's a Portland boy. To me, he's a mix between Lamar Odom and Lebron. Can handle the rock, has the ability to make plays and plays with a motor.

I can only wish.

I got a chance to watch one of his games last year, he looked pretty awesome for a prep player, but I'll be perfectly honest, I have no idea how what I saw translates to an NBA court.

I will say one thing, if we do draft him it means we had a pretty rotten year ... or the Hornets fell off a cliff.

my mom is good friends with his aunt i hope to god we draft him somehow because that kid is freaking awesome! did anyone know he is related to damon stoudamire too? haha random tidbit that i dont know if anyone knew

Having 1 DemoRat play for us (Ime) was enough! No thanks!

That's a deal breaker. I don't care how good he is.

In all seriousness, he looks like a real diference maker. He would be a huge addition to our team, and Portland should do everything in their power to move up to get him. Roy, LA, Batum, picks, it doesn't matter.

Oh, and in before someone claims we don't need him because we already have Nic

Kemba Walker is the PG we want. Hes had 4 straight 30 point games for uconn. i despise uconn but this kid can play.

Hehe.

I want to add, I get the Lamar Odom comparison a little bit, but Lebron is/was in a completely different stratosphere of dominance as prep player.

It'll be interesting to see how he pans out for the whole year in Kentucky. I suspect he's going to be out of our draft range by the time June rolls around or he may not even declare because of the potential lockout -- or maybe he will because he'll get a rookie deal under the existing CBA? -- who knows.

Kyrie Irving is the player I really want. Now that's a difference maker for us at the point guard spot. Too bad Batum is our only trading chip at the moment....

The Lebron comparison has to do with his ability to handle the rock and create for others, not necessarily his dominance. But, I would say, his numbers at UK this year have been pretty dominant.

He's a beast. But he does have that classic 6'7" PF/SF tweener size.

The player I really like in this years crop is Jared Sullinger, a 6'9" 280 lb. beast.

It seems like a really long ways off, but I will be curious to see what kind of players Cho goes after. For instance I think it became pretty clear after awhile that KP really had an affinity for finesse players and guys who thrived in college or in Europe because of their offense. Cho says he likes guys that play both ways. How will that manifest itself I wonder?

Like Greg Oden (known more for his defense), Batum (same), Pendy (Bruiser)?

I think KP just tried to maximize his draft positions for whoever he thought was best value. If anything, I would argue that jlprk hit the nail on the head - KP's shtick was to take a flyer on players that fell to him because of injury concerns (Roy, Batum, Elliot) or some other reason (Bayless, Rudy).

Jared is one of the 2 best players in the country. He has been a winner at every level during his high school career. He won 3 national AAU championships and is trying to lead his team to a second state championship in Ohio. He is THE best rebounder in the 2010 class. He has great hands and an attitude that tries to grab every rebound. His strength and big body are tough to box out and keep off the boards. He is a good scorer on the block and is working to improve his ability to score over his left shoulder. Sully has an excellent touch and is a solid face up shooter with range to 18 feet. Defensively he is good at clogging the lane and has a great basketball IQ that allows him to understand defensive concepts and positioning. It does not take much to imagine Jared being one of Ohio State's best players next year as a freshman.

He's too small. His game wouldn't translate to the NBA at his size.

He's 6'8" 244 and every site I see lists him as an NBA small forward. He is also extremely skilled and was considered a point forward in high school. I don't think you know what you are talking about.

Not as highly touted but I like Elias Harris out of Gonzaga.

Maybe Mick could help me out here. I like his high basketball IQ, shot 55% as a Freshman (45% from three) and is a solid rebounder.

Great athlete. About as freak of an athlete as you will find, but he definitely has some holes in his game. Doesn't know if he will be a 3 or a 4 at the next level. He gets severely flustered if a double team comes his way. Hasn't done that well this year early because he has had shoulder and achilles injuries. He'll probably be available where we pick.

+1

We'll never get him - but this thread is about "wants" - - and I want him as a Blazer!

The best Center prospect not in the NBA right now could be Jonas Valanciunas. A lock for the top-5. He's putting up nearly a double-double in the Euroleague in only 17 min/per at age 18.

Jonas Valanciunas
6'11" 240 lb. C
Lithuania

Jonas enjoys excellent hands, athleticism and length to make things easier.
Valanciunas is an unselfish player who plays impressively on the court, he shows a soft touch on his shot with excellent shooting mechanics and overall fundamentals facing the basket.
The strongest part of his game is his rebounding and defensive skills. Showing good positioning, he usually finds himself in the right spot to challenge shots or clean the glass,he could become a much better shotblocker.Long and agile bigman, he moves very easily for a guy of his size. His long wingspan and huge hands make him a value in the inside game, good athlete. Jonas shows excellent shooting mechanics from the free-throw line.
Plays with a strong competitive drive but his lack of strength makes it difficult for him to finish every play.
Hard working kid who should continue to improve. Shows solid vision and court sense, getting rid of the ball and finding teammates when doubled.
His body still needs a lot of strength. He needs to learn to manage his aggressiveness defensively.
Valanciunas is clearly one of the most talented players in his age group
