the process of change. What that means is not worry about this season but focus solely on making moves for the next several years. That includes trades, perhaps giving some of the young guys more burn and see what they have. This team IMO is simply another another version of the "one and done" teams we have had, a few different players but the end result will be the same.

I am not saying to make a trade for the sake of just doing it. But have a purpose and a plan for this critical next 6-7 month period when we have so many expiring contracts, capspace, and the makeup of the team can and will be changed and likely a lot.

What worries me is that we have no plan and what MM pointed out earlier, that we have no GM. I like Chad but he IMO has not been given any real latitude to structure a team, it's done by committee, a committee that IMO lacks the experience and gravitas to retool this team.

When u break down our roster its so clear we need a star guard next to Aldridge. Put Wes, Batum around that and I think you have a very solid core. The other major issue is center. We have nothing there past this season. Thats very concerning. I think the only guy on our bench who would be worthy of keeping is Williams. Maybe hes our backup 2 guard next season behind wes? I also have a feeling the blazers like wallace and will keep him. However until they get a legit PG.... this team is dead. They should go balls to the wall for Deron.

This regime has signed or traded for Crawford, Felton, Matthews, Wallace. None of those guys are difference makers...in a good way. Wallace being the best of the bunch. He is a good NBA player, but not for a winning team...apparently. Hustles his ass off, and I love watching him play, but no.

It wouldn't shock me to hear that Babbitt was the product of this front office as well.

we have holes now and bigger ones coming with the expirings. I think this is where a decision needs to be made to be proactive as opposed to sitting back and waiting and then scrambling. You have to develop a plan/strategy, there is no guarantee it will work but without one you are doomed. What concerns me greatly is we have no plan at all.

I'm ready to blow it up. Give Batum more burn, and work with Elliot Williams on defense. Get young guys as much as you can for starters.

Well it won't be pretty for a couple of years, but if Paul Allen can manage to get a competent talent evaluator and deal maker to fill the GM role -- and then let him work -- the hemorrhaging shouldn't be impossible to stop when you actually have an all-star caliber big that can be built around in Aldridge and some other competent pieces around him (Batum, Wallace, maybe Wesley with a good point guard next to him).

If I were Allen I'd fight like hell to get Kevin O'Connor away from the Jazz; He's got a good eye for talent (Burks, Millsap, Matthews, Williams, etc.) and he's executed a helluva rebuild on the fly. He also apparently understands the principle of making anticipatory moves instead of getting himself boxed into reactionary trades.

why not trade for picks or possible players (even solid subs) for those expirings, we might get "one" big signing but we need other pieces

We need a star at SG or PG and Gordon is the only FA that fits the bill (No way DWill comes to PDX). We can always get role players, this is a unique opportunity to land a large salary star.

Our luck was certainly bad, but we didn't exactly tip the odds in our favor by drafting two guys in Roy and Oden who apparently had their knees red-flagged. Next time my vote is to draft guys without intimate familiarity of surgical suites and hospital beds (at least if they're top 10 picks).

The Wiz have Wall and will have another great draft pick this summer. They are on the road to rebuilding.

The Bobcats are on course to get a top pick this year in a fairly strong draft.

The Blazers either need to go that rout or try to land a star with the cap room this summer. Status quo isn't working anymore.
