Tie-breakers being our friend.

Naturally, Monday's game is the biggest key.

John Hollinger already has an article up on ESPN about how horrible the officiating was tonight.

That out of the way - the refs didn't decide this game. The Blazers shot poorly from both the field and the line, and repeatedly got out-hustled for loose balls.

At this point, an 0-3 finish is quite possible. Even 1-2 leaves the Blazers in 8th. Anything better than that is a pipe dream.

I'm still thinking that we'll tie the spurs and we'll get 7th by virtue of the tie breaker. Regardless, any playoff series is going to be a dogfight.

We won't go 0-3. We'll beat the Lakers. Fuck, the Wolves almost beat em tonight.

I don't care if we get the 6th or 7th seed. It would be nice to get the 6th b/c that will most likely mean OKL is 7th and we'd be in the same bracket as them. If they win their 1st round series and we did too, then we'd have home court against them in the 2nd round. I just don't want the 8th.

I'm not scared of Denver. Not that Nate is a Larry Brown X and O's guy, but over the coarse of a series he has an advantage over Adrian Dantley. Dallas? We can play with those guys. Utah? I don't like that matchup, but I still think we have a chance. If we get the 8th and have to play the Lakers, we don't have a snowballs chance. I do agree with Andre Miller in that the NBA wants to see LA advance (Stern is probably drooling over the Kobe-Lebron matchup in the finals that they missed out on last season b/c of Orlando) But more than that - the Lakers are just a better team than we are, even w/o Bynum. But Bynum is coming back in Game 1 of the playoffs. Even at less than 100%, a front line of Bynum, Odom, & Gasol is too much for Camby and Aldridge to handle. Plus, you'll have Artest (not stopping, but) slowing down Roy and Kobe shadowing him. We saw last night how a defensive minded team will defend us in the playoffs. They aren't going to let Roy or LA get off early. It's going to have to be Batum, Miller, and our bench. I don't think Denver is disciplined enough to stick to that. Utah doesn't have the defensive personnel. Dallas does, but we seem to be able to slow them down too. The Lakers have all the pieces to make life miserable for us. Don't let the 8 straight wins at the RG fool you - they are a different team in the post season. We have to stay out of the 8th spot.

And for the record, I don't think we are going to get the 6th spot. We blew that last night. Okl City is a game ahead of us and we have to play the Lakers in LA. If we lose to the Lakers, it's over. Okl City has to play us, Golden State, & Memphis at home. They aren't going to lose 2 of those games. Even if we beat them Monday, it won't mean anything if we lose Sunday at LA. That being said, I'm not agonizing over the 6th spot like I am the 8th. I'll take 6 or 7 and be satisfied.

I just want to beat the Lakers tomorrow. If we do that I don't care where we finish.

All the Blazers have to do is win out. OK, easier said than done, but at least it's in their own hands.
