I've been thinking about it, and I don't think Neil will trade Hendo or Crabbe or CJ unless something comes along that immediately makes us significantly better. Dumping Hendo for a pick would send a message to the team that Neil doesn't care about winning this season, despite them working very hard to get to where they are.

Neil said a couple years ago that he underestimated how well our guys would do, and he regretted not giving them any help on the bench. Similarly, I think he (as well as the rest of us) underestimated how well we would do this season. I just don't think he's going to do anything to tank when our guys have worked so hard to get within spitting distance of the playoffs.

So unless a deal comes along where we can pick up a starter for peanuts, I'm not so sure we'll make a trade. Hendo has become an integral part of the team. We don't win the game last night if not for him.

I guess the question is will Hendo accept a bench roll with us.

He has been killing it lately. Somebody is going to pay him this summer. I for one would love to see him stick around. He seems to fit like a glove on this team.

Guess it depends on what he wants. If successfully filling a role for which ones talents are tailor-made is something he's interested in, then re-signing here seems relatively likely. If it's all about playing the most minutes and/or making the most money, then he's gone.

I'm just not sure if there's enough minutes to go around for Dame/CJ/Crabbe/Hendo.

Each one of those guys could be playing 35+ minutes per night, but there's only 96 minutes to go around. At MOST that's 32 minutes each for three players. If you add in small forward, you might be able to steal a few minutes, but will it be enough to keep everyone happy?

I think when Kerr talked Iggy into coming off the bench, the Warriors started a dynasty...guys know what it takes to succeed and Iggy and Ginobli have not taken back seats by being 6 men..Iggy was starting in Philly, I don't think he'd want to swap the job he has now for that

Unless he was able to sell it as not being able to keep both Hendo and Crabbe over the summer and not wanting to lose him for nothing AND needing to find more minutes for Harkless......yeah that is a tough sell........nevermind.

Not if we also keep Moe and Aminu, no--unless of course they get some PF minutes, which wouldn't be the worst idea. Get rid of Leonard, and the rotation is set.

PG Dame 32, CJ 16
SG CJ 16, Henderson 24, Crabbe 8
SF Aminu 12, Harkless 20, Crabbe 16
PF Vonleh 28, Davis 4, Aminu 16
C Plums 28, Davis 20

Dame/CJ--32 mpg
Aminu/Vonleh/Plums--28 mpg
Henderson/Crabbe/Davis--24 mpg
Harkless--20 mpg

There is more than 96 minutes if Crabbe plays some SF. He is long enough

Only giving Dame and CJ 32 minutes so that we can give Harkless 20? No thanks.

I agree that if NO does pull the trigger on a trade it won't be for just a pick ( unless he trades Kaman for a pick) we might not even make a move before the deadline...though we have the extra cap space, teams aren't really going to be giving up much this year...NO would have to work his magic...Still it'd have to be a good trade...its not likely we are going to give up young talent for older players ( the ones available) I just don't see it

I could get behind trading Moe and Meyers plus Pat for best available player....Jahill and a pick?

You know Hendo has been growing on me, and while I wouldn't mind seeing him stay, to get better, him leaving might have to be one of the steps...that said he would probably want to resign here, question is does NO and the Blazers want to resign him...If we don't plan on it, or at least plan on considering it, a trade needs to happen...no sense letting him walk for nothing.

Personally, I'd rather deal Aminu as well, as I think Harkless has a much higher ceiling. Or if there were some way to turn Aminu/Harkless/Leonard into a major upgrade at SF, I'd absolutely be down for that.

I agree. I doubt we'll see a trade that involves any of our key productive players. If we see a trade, I'm guessing it will be part of facilitating another trade and the Blazers absorbing some salary and picking up an asset (second rounder or rights to a player). I'm good with that.

Remember when a lot of you wanted Corey Brewer as our SF. Crabbe weighs more than Brewer, with a longer wing span. (3" more) and is a much better shooter. (He weighs the same as Harkless at 210)

Maybe our future 8 man rotation is something like this:

PG Dame 32, CJ 16
SG CJ 14, Henderson 24,
SF Aminu 18, Crabbe 30
PF Vonleh 28, Aminu 12 Davis 8
C Plums 28, Davis 20

Jahill is having a great season and you think those pieces could get him, PLUS a pick? Lol

The question is will Meyers the Expiring be moved?

He turned down a contract extension "betting on himself"?
He played only 13 minutes last night.

I would LOVE an expiring Leonard for an expiring Ryan Anderson.

Any time somebody mentions trading CJ I get this pang of anger going through my body. It's the same feeling I get when someone mentions Diego Valeri signing with another soccer team. The very idea makes me ill.

"Well. We might trade CJ for...."

No, I'm wearing my rosey homer glasses today...and the sun is shinning in Portland.

Yeah I doubt Portland will actually make a trade. Expiring contracts have lost their value, and I can't see Neil breaking up this unit since I don't think anyone knows what they are or are not just yet.

shocking everyone is swayed by a small stretch of good play by a player and now they dont want to trade him.
guys.....hes gone no matter what next year. he wants to be a starter and we are not gonna pay him starter money to have him come off the bench. if anything his play has driven up his value to as a player who can contribute for a contender or as an expiring contract.
if you put his contract together with kaman i believe thats roughly 10-11 million. yes the cap is exloding next year but that amount of money is still a good chunk.
the difference between a player fro 20M than a max player at 30M....plus you can throw in a good asset like one of our younger guys that are restricted next year to give the team we trade with an option.

I would trade CJ and parts for Paul George.

I apologize for nothing!
