Re: Cap space plan 2015: LeBron James

The salary cap this season is $63M

The Blazers have $36M on the books for next season

A MAX offer per year is what, like $20M-$25M per year?

The Blazers could make it work before re-signing guys like Adridge etc, unless I'm horribly wrong on how the NBA salary cap and contracts work.

Okay regardless, if there is any truth to LBJ, we would be stupid not to pass it up. You know damn well our WC rivals will.

I would contact Cleveland immediately to see if they would want to trade for LBJ.

Well they obviously won't trade him

But if giving up Wes and Lopez is the price, do it.

I'll save the Blazers the trouble. No the Cavs aren't interested.

Re: Cap space plan 2015: LeBron James

Why? Money? Or he would have to be part of the trade? Because if its money I cant imagine a more likely scenario for PA to open his wallet

$65 million starting lineup would be interesting

Fuck Lebron James. I'll root against him wherever he goes, even Portland.

Regardless, his physical health going to go downhill pretty danged fast (a la Tiger Woods and Sammy Sosa) now that he stopped slamming HGH so the point's moot...

Re: Cap space plan 2015: LeBron James

Don't know why you guys are worried about the salary cap for this. Isn't it completely obvious that LeBron wants to come here so badly he'll jump at the chance to sign for the veteran's minimum?

Hahaha that would be so funny

Okay, so assuming that this is even possible, there's one major problem (well two, actually).

1.) He would have to sign here in free agency, and the only way that happens is if we either do a sign-and-trade with Cleveland OR we renounce Wes/Rolo. There won't be a Dame/Wes/LBJ/LA/Rolo lineup. Simply not possible.

2.) One of the major problems in Cleveland is that James plays his best ball as a power forward. The Heat ran with Bosh at the five. So one of the current issues in Cleveland is trying to make Love and LeBron fit together. It's not working. So if LeBron came here, Aldridge is going to end up sliding to the five spot, which is where he doesn't want to be. If he was willing to take that role, we could easily slide into the mold of the Miami Heat though.

LMA, Wes, Rolo and Lebron could all agree to take less money for a few years until the salary cap goes higher from all that new TV money, then they all sign new max contracts. Not likely but it is possible.

Well THAT'S not much of a problem - trade LMA for LBJ!

Not really a problem. Lebron can guard small forwards. On offense LMA can play away from the basket as well as inside, so can Lebron. Stotts would have no problem using LMA and Lebron on the court at the same time with Lopez.

Just repeating what I heard from the pundits. :dunno:

I think we should try to trade Batum and pieces for Jeff Green. Would add proven scoring firepower and much needed physicality.

Meh. I don't want LeBron. I want to beat him. Plus, LeBron would probably cramp Lillard's style.
