Luke Babbit wont score 20 points 3 times in his career no less this season. Holy cow i dont know how that kid hasnt been waived yet! I really believe Sean MArks would have done a better job last night. The kid is a spaz out there, looking like a "special needs kid" playing against all americans. Just awful and embarrassing.

He played with effort last night... at least that's something. Actually, truth be told, I thought he played his BEST in a Blazer uniform last night so far... active without the ball, active on defense. He missed two wide open shots that had the crowd groaning, though. I agree, he's definately not NBA-ready yet, but I saw some flashes of potential there. He probably won't reach those in a Blazer uniform.

Anybody that says they saw anything promising in Babbit's play last night is deluded. He's Sean Marks awful.

KP got his revenge on the way out the door.

potential?

showing he could be the worse player in the league? def.

Babbitt is definitely in over his head, at least right now. If he could play, Nate would play him. There is a reason he doesn't. Still, he isn't going to get better sitting on the bench. The Blazers need to blow some team out so the kid can get some court time. But, yeah, I've been amazed from the beginning that we traded Martell to move up to get Babbitt. I hope he proves me wrong some day, and can become a serviceable bench player, but I'm not going to hold my breath.

It is behind retarded to make absolutes right now on any player thats age is under 30 on the blazers. Yea Babbit looked lost last night, played hard but was ineffective and defiantly had the deer in the headlights look but he is still a rookie who has played what 38 minutes TOTAL this season? Give him a little bit of a break until we actually get a decent sample size of him.

If we werent' in such need for bigs; he should be in the NBADL.

But for anyone who didn't see this before - the kid has talent - which we will see some day:

He's got Adam Morrison syndrome: too slow to guard threes, not strong enough to guard fours, slow release on his shot and his college game was based mostly on isolation sets. If he doesn't wash out in two years I'll be shocked.

It's probably gonna take a 2-3 seasons for Babbitt to get up to speed with the NBA game, and then I think he'll be a nice NBA player. It's not like he was taken in the top 5 or something. He mainly just needs confidence and some experience.

problem is he cant even score. if he was making threes id be fine but thats MIA too

The question is, why wasn't he in the NBADL earlier in the season when we weren't hurting for bigs?

You forgot athleticism and skill

Go back and bump the thread when we basically traded Marty for him! I was right! This kid should be working at an IHOP not collecting a fat check from the NBA!

Nothing pissed me off more than when he caught the ball WIDE-OPEN out top or on the wing, and he kept hesitating, then attempting to put the ball on the floor (failed miserably every time). Every time he did this, I couldn't help but to be reminded of Bambi trying to walk on ice. The only thing I liked, really, was the shot that he missed from the right base-line from about 12-15 feet out. He missed it, but at least he shot it in rhythm and with confidence that time.

Oh, and for fuck's sake, can somebody PLEASE show that kid where he can get a fucking haircut!?

i don't think he's athletic enough to ever hold his own against NBA level players

The season is over

Of course it's got nothing to do with the season. It just means the Blazers probably have a busted pick on their hands. Nothing more, nothing less.

I think he'll probably make a nice reserve power forward in the adriatic league in a couple of years. Nothing wrong with that ... I just hope Cho can convince Allen to cut bait and get on with it as soon as possible.

one of many in what will probably end up being a very poor draft overall

way to stay classy guys. (and by "guys" I don't mean more than 1 person)

Funny how some of you said the same thing about Martel his first two years. (About how he was not a NBA player) You may all be right about Luke. But way too soon to know for sure. Next year when he plays 5-10 games in a row and still sucks then we will know more. But throwing him in once in a blue moon doesn't tell us much. Other than he is not ready NOW.

He doesn't seem to be quick enough to guard the 3's, but I think he is to play some back up 4. (And spread the floor) But he needs to hit the weight room in a big way. We have often seen players improve greatly between their rookie year and 2nd year. We wil see how good the current coaching staff is in developing him.

I would have preferred to keep Dante' over Luke though.

Let this thread go no further without Mr. Ness making a cameo appearance to agree with Mixum:

It's the biggest Pritchslap of KP's career.

He really let the organization have it with this move.

Worst Blazer draft class since the Khryapa/Monia/Ha days?

Worse, unless Armon or Luke helps to net us another LMA. Though, if Nate had to play Armon as much as Bassy, I think he'd be perform as well or better than Bassy. No joke. Man, was Telfair overrated.

Every time I've watched him he's looked both awkward and lost, but dude tested as a solid athlete at his combine. He's significantly bigger then Adam Morrison as well. 6'7.5 barefoot, 218 lbs, 6'11.25 wingspan, 37.5 max vert

Here's the rub: he doesn't actually play with any of that combine athleticism. It's a bit like being able to walk OR chew gum at the same time -- if you ask him to do one thing and focus on just that one thing he's fine, but when he has to jump and handle a ball or jump and shoot it's like it takes something out of him because he has to slow down to coordinate his movements.

Too bad they couldn't have traded babbit instead of cunningham

I'm guessing even Jordan could see the similarities between Babbitt and Ammo ... he's been down that road before.

He's been down that road, run out of gas at the end, and gotten raped by hillbillies.

my first sentence wasn't exactly disagreeing with you on the eyeball test. But to say he isn't a good athlete is as wrong as comparing him to 198 pound Adam Morrison and his 30" max vert. It's possible that he gets more comfortable with the NBA speed down the line and is able to show his better then average athleticism... I imagine the NBA is a pretty significant step up from the WAC
