For those that know Butler. Does he need the ball in his hands as well? Or will he play off the ball?

He can do both, but I would say he needs to at least handle the ball some in order to get into a rhythm. He's completely sucking nuts in Flip's offense that has him acting almost exclusively as a spot up shooter since Arenas is handling the ball on something like 90-95% of the time he's in there. The thing that wouldn't worry me too much is that he's perfectly comfortable shooting off the dribble much like Travis and thus could be capable of filling that role late in the clock or at the end of games.

Two expiring contracts. Rudy Fernandez might be enough to get it done. I don't know how did Steve Blake enjoy his time in Washington when he was there? If the Wizards acquire him, they could play him at the point or two with Arenas.

I would feel bad giving up Rudy but you are going to have to give up quality to get quality.

Our backup shooting guard for a legitimate 3 is a deal that Portland would absolutely have to do.

I'd give up Rudy and Joel if we could move Howard to the back up C, But I don't think the man has enough gas left in the tank.

I'd trade Rudy to get a true SF solution. Rudy at best seems to be just a spark off the bench with his frail frame. I couldn't see him being effective for 30+ minutes a game. Plus his natural position is the same as Roy and he'll never get enough burn in Portland for him to resign here.
