I've met Chris and we've debated on here and it's all good. He's not afraid to defend his ideas and brings an argument rather than troll or dismiss posts without reading them.
No way I can vote for yet another lefty to be Mod though. Selective Enforcement/Non-Enforcement of rules and decorum has become a one-party street here, which works the same way a one-party SCOTUS would. Badly.
The board is teetering on collapse due to the imbalance already, as happened with previous but now defunct boards most of us came from.
As we found out before, a boardful of homers and liberals has little to discuss with each other.
Politics is not a consideration in nominating people to become staff here.
As far as I can tell, because I haven't asked, myself and @PtldPlatypus are conservatives, I think @Chris Craig is a liberal, and I'm not really sure what @Strenuus is.
But that doesn't matter.
IMO what matters is are they Blazer fans? (You know, since it is the official forum of the Portland Trail Blazers.) Do they like and participate in the forum? Do they respect and like people in the forum? Do they enjoy and participate in forum functions? Have they done things to make the forum better or more fun even before they were staff?
I can easily answer yes to all of those questions about Platy, Stren, and Chris.
We have healthy discussions and debates in the main forum about basketball, the NBA and the Blazers. IMO that means the forum is healthy.
If you are not satisfied with the discussion and debate in the Off Topic section of a basketball forum then may I suggest you find other forums for that. The OT section of a basketball forum is never going to be very good for that.
What I find to be odd, insulting, and simply not true is that this forum is on a crusade to ban conservatives. Using the bannings of PapaG and Sinobas as proof of this is just sad. PapaG was banned almost 4 years ago. Sinobas was banned for repeatedly posting the N word in the main forum. This sudden claiming of Sinobas as "One of us!" is disturbing. I don't know what his political affiliations or beliefs were and that had nothing to do with him being banned. If you think posting the N word means Sinobas is a fellow conservative then that is more of a reflection on you then it is on how liberal the staff is.
