Its to find a certain font that you want. Say you see a font in a signature that you really like, and you cant find the name anywhere... well, you go to identifont, then answer the questions about it, then it comes up with about 30 that fit your description. Then you can take the name and DL it if you want. Try it out for fun when you have time.

You find a font on something, and all you do is upload the image of the font you found and it tells you what font it is.
