We would have blown this shit up by now.

Does anyone else think that Neil is taking advantage of the fact that Jody is new to this and not as knowledgeable as Paul? Who would even be around to fire Neil at this point?

A religious thread not started by ABM! BobWhitsittsGhost lost his tongue in the hellfire.

Tacky thread. If he did nothing after we got swept by Pelicans, why would he have made major changes after a WCF run?

If someone wants to argue for firing a GM who drafted Gary Trent Jr and swung deals for Kanter, Seth Curry and Melo, go ahead. If someone wants to argue for firing a coach the players, especially Dame, respect, who got the team to WCF last year and improbable playoff run this year, it's still a semi free country. But those are your views. Let Paul Allen rest in peace.

what if someone wants to argue for firing a GM who offered max contracts to Roy Hibbert, Greg Monroe, and Chandler Parsons; made a max-MLE offer to Spenser Hawes; gave 75 million to Allen Crabbe and 70 million to Evan Turner; drafted and gave a big extension to Meyers Leonard; saddled the franchise with 4 years of terrible contracts and left a team with a losing record the highest payroll in the league; missed an opportunity to draft Giannis; traded for Kent Bazemore; "swung deals" for Tolliver & Hezonja; has refused to add a backup PG; and allowed this season to hinge on the production of Zach and Simons....?

yeah, I know we could go back and forth on this...but you went forth first...:)

You mean the man who was gun shy about trading anyone away because of Jermaine O'Neal?

The same man who had Nate McMillan as a coach, and had almost no off season success?

I really doubt the team would be in any different shape.

Counter counter point, that team didn't have anyone as close to as talented as Dame.
They had a good team.
I remember watching a practice run by Cheeks. I've never seen a practice that slovenly. He didn't even seem to care whether you participated or not. He was just too easy going.
No, Cheeks has to be in the running for the worst coach we've ever had and certainly the worst since Cheeks.

Paul was extremely impatient. I shall presume away!

PA rode the Dame Train. He has been dead less than 2 years(RIP). I dont think you are correct on this assumption.

Cheeks is the worst coach they've had since Cheeks?

I know he sucked, but I didn't realize he sucked THAT bad.

Argue coach and GM all you like, just acknowledge they are YOUR arguments.

I can speculate what I think Paul would have done.

The main point of contention is that I don't think Jody has the experience yet to fire anyone. Or can I not talk about that either?

Vulcan is still in charge of the Blazers, among other things, and likely hasn't changed much in terms of personnel since Paul Allen passed away. Jody Allen likely has plenty of advisors to help her assess the Blazers and the job Olshey and Stotts are doing. It's not like Paul Allen was some deeply experienced basketball mind--he surely relied on advisors too.

PAUL IS DEAD!!!!! I don't care how many times you listen to Abbey Road backwards!

Paul was very involved though. Some owners are too involved (like Sacramento) but I worry that we don't have a driving force in the franchise. Do you trust Vulcan to make the tough decisions?

About as much as I trust most ownership teams. I mean, I realize Allen was involved, but how involved was Vulcan? How much do they differ from other ownership teams? I don't have an overwhelmingly positive or negative impression of them--the Blazers have been run okay, but not exceptionally well. The Seahawks were run exceptionally well for a little while and now they've declined to "okay" also.

Somewhere the Vulcans have holographic virtual staff meetings with Paul every morning...he created several decades worth of them before he passed....Paul wasn't letting his legacy die just because his body did

Oh ya absolutely. Jody dont know shit about basketball she’s probably like “hey we made the playoffs good job Neil!”

At the very minimum Paul is firing Terry and looking for the next Nick Nurse

nah...Paul would have Terry and Dame on his yacht talking about draft prospects....Stotts did something that the franchise hadn't done in 14 years with less talent...Western Conference finals...Paul would give Terry a raise...maybe you're new to the Blazers but this ain't the Raymond Felton Caleb Kanales Blazers with Luke Babbitt as your go to guy...I don't get the hate...we're in a better place than we have been since Wes went down with the achilles injury

I'm convinced with some of these posters it won't make a difference who the coach or GM is as they will turn on whoever it is eventually. It's how they operate as they think they know what's best from their cozy little basements.

We have a President, Chris McGowan, who can fire people. A President that was put in place by Paul Allen.
