If Portland can make the 2nd round or better in the playoffs

Quick. Name me one All-NBA caliber player in the last 30 years that chose a small market, bad-weather city to live in as a free agent.

I've got all day.

First of all, "bad weather" is subjective. Secondly, no one said "All-NBA", they said "veterans or superstars"

Making everything you post more negative than it has to be has to get old for you.. I know it's somewhat fucking annoying to read every day.

I'm not sure how much 40-60 degrees and rainy for the entire season is subjective :)

Teams aren't static entities. All rosters see turnover every year.

Doesn't have to be that way.

Guess we better trade McCollum then
. McCollum has been with team since summer league and is on the bench for every game. He is part of the team. His offense will be welcome once he is healthy. But we don't need a new personality in the locker room. Remember Rod Strickland in 2001? KILLED our chemistry.

I personally love that kind of weather. So yes, it's subjective.

There is a Bi-Polar and depression joke itching to be typed, but I digress.

How are you, by the way (not trying to derail, just curious and wont speak any more of it)

He didn't have to sign it though. He could've become a free agent if he wanted but he chose to stay with OKC.

You're being a little pedantic don't you think? Walking away from the extension would have meant leaving millions on the table. What do you think the odds are that Durant stays in OKC at the end of his extension? That team has already showed it's unwilling to go into the luxury by trading away Harden.

Put me on ignore then.

Every time I see pedantic, I go straight to family guy.

1) If Nik and MM are saying that 1st Tier Superstars won't sign in PDX they are absolutely correct. LBJ is not walking through that door. I firmly believe that with the current system Minnesota will NEVER win a championship. They'd have to get really lucky with some ping pong balls to do so.

2) If Nik and MM are saying that 2nd Tier all-stars won't sign in PDX then I don't agree at all.

3) It's moot, we don't have cap space...

4) or a 1st rounder...

5) or even a 2nd rounder.

6) In order to significantly improve the team we'll need some serious Olshey Voodoo Magic. It happened last off-season but I don't know if he can do it again.

7) Quick reminder: If you want to take on salary, salary must go out. Or, in plain english if you want to trade for Boozer, you probably need to give up a starter (other than Lillard who doesn't make enough, yes you could trade like 4 other guys to amass enough salary).

He might be with the team but he hasn't been a part of the rotation. Guys are going to lose minutes and shots to him and if he doesn't produce there may be some grumbling

Pippen and detlef came when we had a solid core in the early 2000s. I get they were at the ends of their careers but pippen was still considered a superstar.

Pippen and Schrempf wanted to come here, but I don't know who you are thinking about attracting. Our cap is maxed out and we don't have any big expiring contracts. Maybe we could cut Barton, trade Leonard and Crabbe for 2nd rounders, and get another vet for like 2-3 mil.

Pippen was traded to Portland

Portland sitting in the 1st seed playing GS in the 8th seed.

Games remaining: 32 at home 31 Away

28 games left versus +.500 teams

41 games left versus the West

What do y'all consider a "small market"? Anything outside top 10?

What are the "bad weather cities"?

All NBA as in 1st-3rd team?

"Find me all the female people with red hair whose names start with vowels and their eyes are blue...I'll wait all day"

I said he wanted to come here, and I believe he did, he was beaming at the press conference.

BTW, anyone know if we have any exceptions? I never understood how those things work. Can you only have 2 players on exception contracts? Matthews is on one right?

I was looking for that on ESPN trade machine and didn't see one.

Oh, not TPE's you mean like the mid level exception. No idea, my bad

You could conceivably have an MLE player every year, and a BAE player every two years. Minimum exceptions (veteran or rookie) can be signed anytime. Previous trade exceptions needed to be renounced to get cap space this summer.

code for 'white' cities.
What are the "bad weather cities"?

code for "white" again.

Most NBA teams are in cities with crappy weather during the season. Good thing games are played indoors, and they're on the road a lot of the season.

Well until this is clarified I'm not gonna waste my time
