I believe it is a condition of the sale that the Blazers remain in Portland.

Who and how would that even be enforced?

I doubt the NBA and owners would agree to something like that?

If that were a condition of sale by the PA Trust, I'm not sure if they would have legal standing to do anything if that condition were broken. What happens when PA's assets are finally sold and the trust is dissolved?

My understanding is it is an agreement with the sale and with the league which has to grant approval by the board of governors and a move would also have to be approved by those who approve the agreement.

The board of governors already has to approve any team move.

I just don't see how such a condition is enforceable.

So the pizza dude says they still might move. Better wait and see.

Name one market bigger/better than the nw that doesn't already have a team.
Vegas, Seattle, Austin, Raleigh. Some are bigger, some are better. I am on no way saying this will happen, I’m saying until the people of Oregon and or Portland show they are willing to pay for an arena, there is a good chance they move. If the people support more taxes then they’ll stay. History shows people in Portland won’t support it

It is similar

Yeah, in the sense that both teams are in the NBA. Other than that, they're not similar.

The people who bought the Sonics didn't own another smaller market franchise that they kept in that city despite there being "better" markets for the NHL.

The people who bought the Sonics didn't have someone in their group from Seattle.

Swear to god, the Blazers ownership groups could sign a binding contract to stay in Portland for 50 years, and people here would still be convinced the team would be moving.

I think our new owner will use city and state money to improve the Moda and use his money to develop and improve the area in and around the Rose Quarter.

It's what he did with the Hurricanes, and I think it makes the most sense for Portland.

Also by helping him invest and improve the area around the Moda keeps him literally invested in Portland.

That's exactly what he WANTS you to think!

Want to know why?

Because the Sonics left Seattle in EXACTLY THE SAME SCENARIO almost 20 years ago!!!!

There's a good chance you're off yoir rocker.

He’s not “from” here. He lives here because his wife works here

well in that case, it's exactly like the Sonics situation. Goodbye trail blazers!

Wait, just saw that Sheel has a JD in Texas!

Oh shit, Austin Trail Blazers, here they come!

The people of Portland and Oregon will pay for an arena before they allow the Blazers to leave.

I simply don't believe the region would reject the Blazers that way.

And it improves Portland, and by extension Oregon.

This development should be good for everyone. And there is plenty of money to be made by the group who makes it happen.

I had my doubts that they could leave but the new owner makes me feel warm and fuzzy that he’ll keep team here. Also like the fact he wants to add local investors. Typically wouldn’t want local investors if your plan is to move them. Also rumor was the local investors were part of the Rip City group who ‘s main goal was to keep them here in Oregon

There are multiple examples of people voting no for billionaires
In this case, I don't think it's about billionaires. I think it's about the Blazers.

I don't think Portland is going to allow the fact that billionaires are involved to cost us the Blazers.

This is unfortunately the cost of doing business for a region like ours if we want to have a major league franchise.

And if we ever want baseball we need to make sure the Blazers are handled very well. This is an opportunity for us to stand up and prove that not only can we support the Blazers, we can also support MLB (even if MLB never happens, this is an opportunity for us to show that we could support it).

I think there are far more people who think Portland has more important things to spend money on.

Is that what that euphemism means?! I had no idea...

So.......what does anyone gain by being right about this ahead of time?

Bragging rights and to demand those who were wrong eat a huge helping of crow... What could possibly be more important than that?

Such as....
Portland 16th highest tax rate
Wealthy families and even well off families like mine are moving out of state
Voted no on measure 118
A lot more from previous generation like my old ass. You have your opinion. I love your opinion. I’m just skeptical because of history

You could be right. I just think there will be enough people motivated enough to show up and pass whatever funding is needed.

I don't think there will be enough people motivated enough to want the team to leave, thereby losing the billions of dollars the team brings to the local economy (according to Ron weiden, etc).
